The dollar store had a small bottle of this on sale for $2.95 after a digital coupon and the cheapskate in me succumbed.

I've been using Tide HE Powder with Bleach for a long time and this was my first use of liquid in years.  Unfortunately it was just as I remembered, the liquid left a much stronger scent than the powder.  It cleaned very well though.

I did a couple of loads (swimming suits and winter pullovers) that I hung on a rack to dry.  Two days later I can still smell them (even faintly in the next room.)

I wouldn't describe the scent as awful but as an odd "chemical sweet" smell.  I guess I'm an outlier since millions of people are buying it and aren't complaining.  I would love to see how companies test these fragrances.

I historically have been biased towards powder detergents, but for at least the last couple of years--maybe longer--I've bought liquids simply because I can get better deals like the one mentioned above. Although I've never gotten a deal quite as good as $2.97. I'm thinking the best deal is probably $3-$4, and it's not uncommon for sales to have Tide at $5 locally. Tide powder, on the other hand, starts at about $8/box, and almost never goes on sale. This fits my pitiful "keep it as cheap as possible!" budget, although--on a brighter note--using liquids also means more choices. Any decent detergent works well enough for me most of the time...but I like the variety of using different detergents.

Recently, I got some Tide powder just to use powder detergent again. I was not happy with it being scented--I prefer unscented (partly because of how overwhelming liquid Tide and Persil can be!)--but it's interesting to rediscover how much more restrained the scent is.
