WOW! The mother lode of mid-century goodies here. That Frigidaire is most interesting, but I really want what's shown in picture 76. I'm going to be sulking all weekend now... LOL

Don't have a dog in this hunt
But it is rather bothersome when estate sales cut early deals IMHO.
I mean what about those who don't bother to call ahead (and or can even reach party in question) that do their level best not only to get to the sale on first day, but be their when doors open to get what they've seen online. Only to be old "oh we sold that several days ago over the telephone" or some such. It is their sale to run as they deem fit; but if people are going to entertain or otherwise accept side deals/telephone sales they should spell it out clearly in listings. | ||

Good job, Louis - that's a great find! I have the same model, one of the rarer tubs in the early Frigidaire washers but still had the Harmonizer balance ring. Can't wait to see more pics.

I really appreciate the congrats. So nice to hear from all of you. Just got home a little while ago from picking the washer up here in rainy NJ.Here are some pics. This will. have to sit in a holding area at the Apt I'm in, until my house is redone / probably Nov/Dec. Can't work on anything here. But, I definitely will be looking for answers and info when it's time to go through it.

IT APPEARS....
To be in good shape, however this is my first surgilator.
The fill hose seems to be broken/too short. Was there an Idler that was supposed to run on the drum, near the control panel? The rubber parts in the drum are still pliable and soft. I'm looking forward to getting it up an running. Hope everone is having a Great Weekend. | ||

Congratulations Louis! 
Today is ...RCA's 70th birthday of the 45 record. To add to the drama of being a 49'er( my birth year), I find this thread. Way to go, Louis! I find few older washers of interest, but this one is different. I look forward to seeing more of this washer as you restore it. Good thing you were early in line.
Gan, yours is restored on the outside - did you have a thread here somewhere on that or was it already in that condition when you acquired it? | ||

That looks great - no visible oil leaks is always a good sign. Looks like you have a replacement pulsator, but it's likely fine as the black ones seemed to last.
The fill hose looks correct, it's intended to be aimed at the tub ring and the water runs into the tub through the baffles. As the tub spins, especially in the first part of spin, it can sway a little bit and if it's too close, it will destroy the hose. The round bumper on the rod near the timer box is a bump-out switch to shut the machine off in severely unbalanced loads.

What an interesting thread and your story, too. When I first looked at your washer, I mistook it as a dishwasher, at first. It's remarkably clean; imagine it sat for a long time, but was used from(?1949? to 1969). You have such skills; I'm not that electrical savvy. If a washer could only talk. Thanks Gan! :-)

Late to the party as usual
...but congratulations on your exciting find. This is one of those machines that always makes me think, "Gee, if they could engineer a machine like this in 1949 that washed the clothes well, didn't use a reservoir full of water and then spun them out so fast that they dried in little time, I WONDER why they couldn't do it for the next 4 decades.

Eric what a tremendous find--your research really unearthed a diamond!
Louis, what a tremendous purchase! I remember you from the lower level living room outside the laundry at Cal & Jeff's house for DC wash-in a few summers ago. You wore one of those classic sunburst yellow cotton oxford shirts. Maybe you'll have great luck, and this machine will start right up and wash, give or take a little tweaking. One can only hope. The amazing things we learn here: Didn't know that the early Frig had such an exciting fill system--through the drain slits. How fookin' cool is that; pardon my Irish. So these were the double rinsers, and when GM engineers envisioned an overflow, they moved the fill to a flume. Fascinating. Had they not, the pulsator would have stood erect, hands on hips, and rebelled at the confusion of trying to fill and overflow through the same slits. | ||

For the additional kind words. I go Estating every week w/ friends. We usually line our weekend up by Tues. When I saw the pic of this a week ago, I knew I had to get there.
I really wanted a frigidaire after seeing Martin's at his house. I knew this was a cool machine ,but didn't know much about it. These are different for me, but I am excited that I got it👍. BTW / WHEN I PICKED UP THE WASHER....
I got this built-in Ironing board. Perfect time to have it installed, when the house rebuild starts. I've been searching for one for a long time, and stumbled across this by happenstance👍
