All,

Still rebuilding the 1969 Malleys Whirlpool and have a few questions I hope for some guidance on.

1. The agitator shaft is very corroded around the upper bearing. Is this OK to reuse ? Alternatively are replacement agitator shafts available to buy ?

2. The original spin tube had an upper seal for the agitator shaft. The replacement spin tube I bought does not have this seal. Is it required and is it available to buy ?

Pictures attached.

Thanks so much.

Tim

You need a new agitator shaft and spin tube, these parts are still fairly plentiful in the US.

Hi John,

Do you have the part number for the agitator shaft and/or a link to where I can buy one ?

Thank you very much for your advice. It's much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Tim

Will these part numbers work for a whirlpool LVB5300W1 too? I have a rattle during the spin cycle.

Thanks!

My washer rattled during spin and sounds like it’s dragging when going up to speed. This is most likely bearings right?

Hi All,

The search continues for an early Whirlpool/Kenmore agitator shaft and shaft seal.

I have now contacted four USA-based online parts retailers whose web sites claimed to have them in stock only to be told they are no longer stocked.

Would anyone have these two parts that they are willing to sell to me, or know of some place that does still stock them ?

Thanks so much.
Tim
