Just picked up this lovely looking 15690, alas being laid down in the car (admittedly for a week) it has lost some transmission oil. I need to fill it before i can play - what grade/type do I need? And how much? Is there a fill method i should know. You guys always manage to help :)

I’m no expert

But I’ve just done some work on mine. See Hotpoint 1501 , on the gearbox on mine there is a small
Square plastic plug. Prise this open and add classic car gearbox oil in. A squeeze bottle or big syringe might make it easier. I’ve discovered a lot of other bits need grease sometime silicone grease sometimes high melting point grease

Good luck Richard

Done!

A pint and a half of silkolene 90 gear oil and freed up the clutch - put it all back together and ran a cycle without issue! Quite a tidy machine! Four more top loaders to go! Anyone know the year?

Another classic saved, glad you've got it running, the Hotpoint 15690 made its debut in August 1979, your model dates from December 1980.
Where abouts are you in Cheshire ??

Strictly speaking not Cheshire anymore but over the border near mold.

Also needed if breaking...

Looking for a rust free drum if you are breaking any top loaders... The one on my @509/10 is getting crispy...
