Hello happy Spring 2019 AW fans,

Has any one heard of this Australian laundry manufacture in the 1950's? They must have been a "cousin" to the USA mfg Thor Co. The mechanical use of manual clutch to change from agitate to spin without getting hands wet, looks like the Thor Automagic, without the change out dishwasher tub. Did the Brit's offer this design to Mr. & Mrs Middleton of Cornwall in the 50's?

This You-tube video is cool, notice how aggressive that "splashy" agitator water action is. Looks "mean", with no skirt & long arms, (unlike my first date in high school) LOL! The only other round cabinet appliance I know of is the early portable dishwasher by General Electric, cool machine design.

I don't think the creators of this home video are AW members. Take a listen as they clutch to spin cycle, "we have to hold it down, it's not bolted" confused me. Looks like it should be a portable cabinet. My childhood neighbors owned this amazing multi use cleaning machine after use, rolled from the kitchen into the pantry to store away. The girls didn't like it since they had to take turns drying dishes after end of cycle. Thought it would be like grandma's, just open the front door, dishes all heated & dried.

Remember, this spring don't have your toast ruined the old fashioned way, use the new "perfectly fully automatic" way, with the 1955 chrome plated original "Toastmaster". It will deliver evenly hot & crisp, never burnt toasted bread just the color you want.... every time. Because it's the only fully Automatic toaster on the market today. See your local Toastmaster dealer for more details.

Hi Gary,

That machine is mine. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.

The machine does need to be bolted down, it has no suspension and a cast iron base with three bolt down points.

It’s not related to Thor, it has no gearbox, it runs a series of pulleys and reciprocating shafts that are connected by belt. The Thor machines have a full gearbox and an extensive balancing device.

Regards

Nathan

When I first saw the Turner machine I thought of Thor as well. The reason is the tub seems to be shaped very similar between the two machines. Obviously the Turner is a perforated agi-tub machine and the Thor is a solid tub, independent agitator, but check out the similarities between the two tubs. Probably a coincidence.
