This is listed in my city for FREE! My question is what model is it? Is this an original colour? They mention it needs a new pump and a door spring. Are these parts available?

KDS-56 KA Portable DW

This is the same as the KDS-16 BI model.

This is the best single arm DW KA ever built IMEO, these were built from around 1968-70.

The color is not original, Door springs can be found as can pump parts [ the pump is serviced with individual parts] you can not replace the pump assembly separately unless you exchange the entire dual pump and motor assembly from another DW.

A go for it!--Even the color, though not original, sure fooled me into passing for such...

My friend Brenda had a nearly new KitchenAid built-in dishwasher in white when they renovated their kitchen in the early 80's. She took the front panels to a body shop, where they sprayed them with an automotive enamel to match the Lupine Blue laminate on the cabinets. They were almost exactly the color of the one in the ad.

The panels on the built-in models were sold separately, and in addition to colors, there were primed ones available to paint in whatever color desired.
