I noticed there's a blower motor under this dishwasher. Should this be running on the No Heat Dry cycle?

In a way I'm glad that fan doesn't run since the intake is under cabinets and air quality is questionable. But I'm curious about the motor/fan.

Yes, the fan should run.

Why would the air quality be worse under your cabinets ?

If anything I would think there would be less dust etc since this area of the house is mostly sealed off from all the dust etc that is created in the areas of the house humans and pets occupy.

No heat dry just means the heating element in the sump is off. The blower will continue to run regardless.

Be thankful for that blower. They're extremely effective at drying dishes without spending $$ running the heating element and baking hard water deposits into glassware. Blowers are just about obsolete, if not completely obsolete, in dishwashers today.

Fan Forced Drying In Home DWs

Almost all [ better models ] new DWs today have a fan to assist drying, granted they are much quieter and more energy efficient than what is in your older KA DW.

combo52, it's just my own suspicion that it's low quality air after working under cabinets for plumbing etc. I don't keep our trash can under the cabinets, but I can tell (or smell if I get in there and pay attention) that it's been there with a previous owner. That and the fact that it's an area prone to leaks being near the sink (past and future - not present).

But that's just in my case, not every case.

Hi Nick, I am sure homes vary and the air under the DW could have odors etc, but that would not be a usual or desirable situation in a well built and maintained home.

Note; the KDS-19 DW has no dry heater, it is always in energy saver mode for drying, the heating element in the sump is only ever used for water heating when water is in the sump.
