My home came with that dishwasher model

Great performer. The door fell off because of a rust issue. There was nothing left to hold it together. I got another kenmore right after that. Had that for over 20 years now.

Is that a thumb wheel control just to the right of center on the control panel? If yes, what was its purpose?

The text under the wheel appears to say "Delay Wash".  So maybe the wheel selects the number of hours to delay?

Delay Wash Timer

Yes, that is the Delay Timer set knob (wheel). You dialed the number of hours you wanted to delay and it displayed in the window (1-9). When the start button was depressed the timer began to countdown. If no delay was selected the machine started immediately.

This machine was built by Whirlpool for Sears; it featured the power clean module, adjustable upper rack, and extra cutlery basket. It's a great dishwasher (assuming it's working!)

Hope someone gets it.
