OK Everyone, there is very bad news, there is no Apex coming. I received a message today that confirmed that.

I will let John explain what happened if he wishes to do so.

So the search continues everyone! One day we will find one, I know that. Thanks for everyone's good wishes about this on the other threads.

Oh, Robert! To say I'm so very sorry will be an understatement. :-(

I hope that one day you get to experience the thrill of finding and restoring an Apex.

Robert, I'm really sorry that this had to happen to you, but I know that you WILL find one someday. You'll be at a sale and stumble upon your dream machine in the same way you found the 1957 Westinghouse combo...find the manual in the kitchen, then go down to the basement and see it peeking out from a dimly lit corner!

Good luck, and you WILL find it!!!!

I too feel bad for Robert that the machine didn't make it to Minneapolis, and yes, we will all help Robert find his dream machine. Let's not forget what is really important here folks. Another Apex will find us and we will move on. The tragic loss this weekend is not a bouncing basket Apex, but the sexual favors that were offered--all down the drain like yesterday's rinse water. Now they will be hard to find again.

My side of this aweful tail......................

Well I have yet to actually talk to Robert. As discussed with Robert two days ago I left Columbus yesturday afternoon. I got as far as Aurora IL. before I decided to stop and get some sleep. This morning I got up got ready and walked out of my motel and...............ah....something was missing. Such as a new 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup that I had rented the day before...as well as everyting that was in it such as my laptop..cell phone charging cable...small bag and notebook containing phone numbers and everything. And yes two Apex washers and a RCA washer that were promised to Robert. After having a small melt down in the parking lot I spent the entire morning filing a police report....which was fun seeing as how not only was it labor day and every cop was on a highway somewhere clocking people but I also didn't know the plate numbers or its vin number for the truck since all the rental papers were in the glove box. My cell phone battery died of course and I didn't have a charger and of course there were no stores open......so no way to get any numbers or to contact anyone except for Kim pleading for him to get ahold of Robert somehow just before it died. After that, one of the hotel desk clerks dropped me off at the only car rental place that would be open on Labor Day and I sat outside for an hour till they opened. I then drove from Aurora to O'Hare Airport where I had to wait until 3:50 to get a flight back to Dayton which cost me over $500. Then had to sit in Cincinnati for a 2 hour lay over. I just got home at about 9 from what I can honestly say is one of the worst days of my life or at least in the top 3. Now I'm sure Robert is upset with me as is everyone else on this site but honestly..............what am I supposed to do. I could honestly sit down and cry it has been such an aweful day. I can appologize to Robert till I'm blue in the face and I can ask everyone here to understand. If you don't want me around anymore I will leave and not come back. I won't even lerk. But honestly...................from the bottom of my heart........the last thing I wanted to do was hurt anyone especially Robert. He has been super kind and very cool about everything. He has helped me with a few problems I've had with getting machines and so forth. I guess I can only ask that you try to understand my side of this....this is all I can say...

I'm so disappointed for you

But I promise you that if I ever find one, I will get it, and then get it to you come hell or high water.

Guess what's even better than that: there's a pretty large community of people all over the country who will do the same for you when they find one.

Someone IS going to find one and send it off to you when you least expect it.

Ummm I have a question...

John,
Not meaning to sound B**CHY or anything but living in Greater Chicago for most if my life I have one question: What the F**K were you doing out in Aurora? Aurora is nowhere near being on the path from Columbus to Minneapolis?
So you're saying you went 35+ miles out of your way for a motel and some rest?
Sorry dude I'm not buying into your "awful story"

Did you get a copy of the police report?

How did you possibly fit three washers into a Dodge Dakota? Robert has a 2005 Dodge Dakota and it's a comfortable size for two appliances but you must have had a giant shoe-horn to squeeze three machines into it let alone one of them being a 29 inch wide (or more) RCA Whirlpool.

After mentioning to Robert that you were "loading your minivan" what was the need for renting a truck?

I see the question of a side-trip to Aurora, IL has been posed, but it's curious that if one were to arbitrarily choose a point in the Chicagoland area, it would be prudent to at least pick one on the path to your final destination.

After reading your "laundry list" of vintage machines you had found in your original posting a couple of months ago, why have you never bothered to offer one bit of evidence, photographic or otherwise that they actually exist? Especially after being asked for pictures repeatedly and having your credibility questioned, most would have moved heaven and earth to find a way.

Going all the way back to that original posting and your asking questions like; "who wants..." and "who is going to help me divvy them up?" a few times, I find it absolutely incredible that you were offended to get emails from club members interested in machines. Since you clearly responded to NONE of those emails, you then were shocked and traumatized to have people actually point out the fact that you ignored them. If, as you claimed, the language, tone and content was less than appropriate, when asked for the copies and/or sender's info from these emails, you failed to provide them.

Your utjj99 profile doesn't list the machines you have found but another profile under "westywashndry" does list a strikingly similar list of machines but different contact and personal info. Who are you?

I know you are probably feeling vicimized and picked on, but this brief list of questions is intended to clarify your story for everyone of us, most especially Robert. Since your antics have directly involved not only our webmaster and friend, whom I'm sure you can see will be fiercly protected by the group, but all of us that have waited for the latest tidbit of information, pictures and the emminent arrival of these machines. We deserve the truth. I hope, for the sake of your reputation and standing in this group that what you say is true and you have legitimate and truthful answers.

Who would leave a laptop in the truck instead of with ones person in the hotel room?

Surely the rental agency would have all the details needed about the stolen vehicle....

If you "spent the entire morning filing a police report," one could figure the time would then be 11 AM to 12 PM. Why would you have to sit "outside for an hour till they opened" at the car rental place?

It shouldn't be too hard to spot a sparkling new pick-up truck loaded with three old washing machines.

Assuming the perps dump the machines ... which one can reasonably figure they will, because who would want three old washers ... perhaps they'll be rescued.

Post# 152455 , Reply# 36   9/5/2006 at 04:38 (6,437 days old) by filterflo (Chicago Area)

Having watched this whole drama unfold, I have remained silent, hoping that utjj99 John Johnson was credible and upright and honest. I am not offering my public opinion on that but will let you draw your own conclusion, based on MY experience with him.
He had posted several weeks ago about certain machines he was looking for. I contacted him and we exchanged a couple of emails. (Yes, I saved all the emails !!) I thought it best to talk to him in person to try and verify his credibility, and we talked several times on the phone. He seemed like a nice person, spoke well and seemed to have a level of skill associated with repairing things and the love of vintage laundry appliances. He wanted to buy my Bendix combo, a 1-18 Frigidaire set that I had just rebuilt, a 1960 Maytag set, and I had an early Bendix bolt down that I told him he could have for free, upon picking up the other machines. He claimed to be in the process of moving from Toledo to Columbus Ohio, Polaris area and could make the trip to my house with the "truck" he had, on his way down to Columbus. OVER THE PHONE, we set a time and date for him to arrive at my house.
He didnt show. No word, no phone call the whole day. One always begins to imagine the worst, such as an accident. I finally got an email later that evening that he couldnt make it and would do it the following Saturday instead, one week later.
One week later, HE DIDNT SHOW AGAIN. I waited all day, no word, no message until later in the evening that he "couldnt get the truck" to pick up the machines. By this time he is starting to look less and less credible but he claimed to still want the machines. Also to note, that what he wanted to buy kept changing. Still being in contact with him, but privately questioning his credibility and character I made specific guidelines he had to meet to buy the machines. (They had to be paid for in 7 days, total due $1100.00, I would hold them for 30days, he could not pick them up until the check cleared the bank). He agreed to it, and I received an email from him that "he had put a certified check in the mail to me yesterday" and I was to notify him when the check arrived. NO CHECK EVER ARRIVED. At this point I emailed him and he stopped all communication with me. I tried phoning him, but his phone number had been disconnected.
It was very disappointing to say the least. I felt very duped, taken advantage of, and the loss of what I thought was going to be a local Ohio collector that could have been a potenial friend. Just a flake? Draw your own conclusion...........At this point, at the thought of causing hard feelings, be accused of making trouble, or just more drama than its worth, I stopped even trying to communicate with this guy. Lord knows unstable people exist, why add more drama to my already complicated life?
His ebay name is JJ165 and his feedback is less than honorable. Not long after my dilemma with him, I noticed a NEW Applianceville member posting: WestyWashnDry in "Massillion". For those outside of Ohio, there is nearby the city of Massillon where several of my friends live. The profile of machines for Westywashndry as Gansky notes is indeed strikingly similar to what utjj99 claims to own. I found this very interesting along with the fact that he has Massillon spelled wrong on his profile. Who spells the name wrong of the city they live in?
SO NOW THE MESSAGE IS TO YOU JOHN JOHNSON: Why did you stand me up not once but twice? Why did you tell me you put a certified check in the mail, which is no good to ANYONE but ME, and not answer my emails about never receiving it?
Why did you claim to receive nasty emails from club members and yet these supposed emails have yet to surface and prove your claim? Why do you have more than one Applianceville profile and name?
This is not just a cyber community here but a close knit family group for many of us. All do not always see eye to eye on everything, as we are human with human faults and frailites. From time to time toes get stepped on, fragile personalities get hurt, but the underlying bond is the love of appliances and the joy of collecting them that has brought us all together. We all respect Robert and his efforts that have made all of this possible for us.
Hope all had a Happy Labor Day! Jimmy

Not to further fan the flames, But, Its said "but I also didn't know the plate numbers". Every rental firm has the license plate & car make-model info on the car key tag and an 800#.

Also seems it was business as usual yesterday with retailers being open and available.

My 2 cents...again...

Very interesting...it continues to unfold, one piece at a time! Since I am 100% unfamiliar with the area I just assumed the route John took was correct (oooops, we all know what happens when we ASSUME!), but Jeff, you made an interesting observation. Just out of curiosity I pulled up directions from Toledo to Minneapolis on MapQuest and Aurora was not mentioned ANYWHERE.

Playing devil's advocate for a moment, I've heard of moving vans being stolen all of the time, especially from motel parking lots, so that claim can't really be disputed. HOWEVER, this was NOT A MOVING VAN. Thieves are generally lazy and usually take the path of least resistance, and stealing a 2006 Dodge Dakota with 3 "junky" washing machines in the back just to get the truck would NOT seem logical and would take quite a bit of work; I would go for the more accessible vehicle! Not to mention that the Dodge Dakota is a compact pickup and like Greg said, 3 LARGE washing machines could not possibly fit! It would be different if you mentioned a Dodge Ram, which can easily swallow about 3-4 machines, perhaps it's not too late to change your story. The cell-phone battery issue is pure bulls**t, in my opinion. You were at a MOTEL! Since you said you looked out the window in the morning, and saw the missing truck, you could have just as easily gone back into your room to use the phone there, even though you might have added some extra onto your room bill! I'm definitely not buying THAT. And who the hell leaves their laptop in the truck overnight? I wouldn't!!!

About the "Westywashndry" character: the profile says "Massillion" or Massillon, HOWEVER, did any of you happen to see the email address? It was cooltoledoguy@yahoo.com. I also noticed that this "person" claimed to have a lot of machines (which, theoretically, he should know something about as far as technical information is concerned), yet he posted asking what the model number for a certain Laundromat is!!! In another thread, he posted about 15 vintage Kirby vacuums, with the attachments, and then at the end of the post, he used the signature "John". Yes, I thought this person's name was "Devon Allardyce!" I'm sure someone will come up with a link to that thread. I also noticed a post on Vacuumland by him as well, under the name "Westyboy1". He was wanting all of the attachments except the hose for a Hoover Celebrity IV.

Aurora Illinois...

Is a far western suburb of Chicago, right next to Naperville. Its a pretty growing area, just off the I-88 East-West Tollway. I-88 runs pretty much across the width of Illinois, and drops you off on I-80 out by the Quad Cities.

Coming by road from the east into Chicago one would take I-80, and in the northwest tip of Indiana, THREE interststes merge together to one for a bit before they split off again once over the Illinois border. The Interstates are I-80, I-90 and I-94.
I 90/94 splits off from I-80 and becomes the Dan Ryan Expressway, it skirts the perimeter of downtown Chicago before splitting again. I-90 becomes the Kennedy Expressway and runs northwest to O'Hare and out beyond to Rockford and then Beloit Wisconsin...
I-94 Becomes the Edens Expressway and runs thru the north shore suburbs before merging with I-294.
I-294 is the Tri State Tollway, and it skirts the suburbs from Indiana to Wisconsin, running right past Ohare.

SOOOO... To get around Chicago and head for Minneapolis one would come in on I-80, and either pick up I-294 or I-90/94 around Chicago and then into Wisconsin...

Aurora is off I-88, a good 35+ miles west of the city, and in no way shape or form "on the way" to Minneapolis. You can get on I-88 from from the Tri-State, but not from the Dan Ryan.

How did you wind up in Aurora John??

...and the dog ate my homework too

John (or whatever your name is):

There are a lot of people on this forum (including myself) that defended you when you received "hate" e-mails upon posting your machine discoveries. It appeared that you were a sincere, credible person who was being bashed by skeptical/jealous forum members. Based on your current tale of woe, it seems that YOUR credibility is now in question.

From the initial finds, to the angry e-mails, to the stolen truck and its contents, and now to the unfulfilled transactions with Jimmmy(FilterFlo), you have strung along forum members to the point of deceit.

I'm not sure if you enjoy cruel, sick jokes, are jealous of the collections that you have seen, or wanted your "15 minutes of fame". What I do know is that you have some issues that you yourself are going to have to deal with. I will no longer respond to your posts, or those of your alter-egos. You will get no sympathy from me. You have violated my trust and that of my fellow forum members. Perhaps you should find another site to exploit.

Hi Robert. I am very sorry for the disappointment! It is my fervent wish that an Apex bounce-o-matic will come along soon for you. I am sorry for all that has gone on.

yuck. i was very curious about the details. now that its come out, i feel quite sorry/embarrassed for the players in this drama. humiliating to be so desperate for attention. maybe best for us to stop *reacting* to this. if someone is unwell enough to contrive a months-long deception, may be best to let it fade off.

Wow what an outpouring, thank you everyone, Jimmy I had no idea you had been through the wringer so to speak with this guy as well.

I’ll add a few “inconsistencies” to the list:

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota, all Dodge Dakota has a system called “Sentry Key”, it has dropped the rate of theft among Dakotas and other Dodge vehicles by 90%. The key has a computer chip in it to communicate with the car, it the correct key is not inserted into the ignition, there is absolutely no way to start or hot wire this car. The only way to steal it is to tow it to a safe and take it apart. Are you telling us that someone had towed this car with 775lbs of washers in the back??? Oh please.

I then drove from Aurora to O'Hare Airport where I had to wait until 3:50 to get a flight back to Dayton which cost me over $500. Then had to sit in Cincinnati for a 2 hour lay over.
You told me and others you are from Columbus, the 2nd largest city in Ohio. Are you trying to tell us that you couldn't get a direct flight from Chicago O’Hare to Columbus? So you had to fly to Dayton then fly to Cincinnati, then fly a third time to Columbus????? Oh honey please you seemed smarter than that.

I want everyone to realize that all along I was very suspicious of John, but I had spoken to him on the phone and as Jimmy said he seemed very kind and intelligent. I had spoke to him about five times and every time the story changed a bit. As I had previously told quite a few people, I figured there was less than 50% chance that this story was true, but since it is an Apex (yes supposedly two of them) and he described the machine rather well to me I would play along, if it turned out the be a big lie I was out nothing, but if it did turn out to be true I didn’t want to ruin it as I had no way of truly knowing. I also knew of the Westywashndry profile but still I thought I better just play along a little while longer to be sure. When he told me he would bring them out on Labor Day weekend I figured I would go along for just a few more weeks and we would then know the truth.

I have since learned that John had offered our Jamie (pulsator) 15 restored vacuum cleaners for absolutely nothing. I do not like the fact that he was lying to me, but it makes me crazy to know that he was lying to some of our younger members. Jamie I hope you didn’t get your hopes up too high or anyone else that has had dealings with John.

I received this heartfelt email from John late last night:

Well, I'm sure you have now heard my story if not a little of it. I did post it on the site. I was going to call you but after reading your post I decided maybe you wouldn't want to talk to me. Honestly Robert you are one of the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life and the last thing I would do is make shit up to hurt you. I thought over our many phone conversations you would realize I would not do something like what I guess I'm being accused of doing. My day has been one of total hell and disappointment. I've had the only joy in the last few months of giving you those machines destroyed. If you want me to talk to you about this I will.........if you want me to prove it to you I will......whatever you want I will do it.

So I will respond to John publicly and say, OK John we will give you just one more chance to prove it to all of us. If you can, I will be the first to apologize, but if you cannot then you will no longer be welcome here with us.

As for that comment about sexual favors, Don and I were being silly, it was just a joke from a previous John thread. See this overly DRAMATIC thread in the 2006 archives:

Thread #7185.

I have to tell everyone that it is great honor to be part of this group, we are a family and we do stick together. I just know that we are going maintain our washer community for the rest of our lives.

Sentry Key

My partner's 98 Holden Barina has that feature. We didn't know it till I took the key to Mr Minit and got a new key cut. It opens the door, turns in the lock and the car starts - as soon as you let the key snap back to "on" it stops. You can start it 100 times but it will always stall as soon as you let go of the key.
Use the fancy schmantzy key with a chip in the head and away you go...we had to get a second key from the dealer and boy did we have to give some ID. Cost over $100, too.

Of course anyone who leaves a laptop in a car overnight might just concievably be silly enough to leave the keys in it too...
I HATE to call anyone a liar without absolute proof, but this episode leaves a nasty taste in my mouth... and I am not referring to the afore-mentioned sexual favours.
Chris

Yes Robert, he really did put me thru the wringer. I too at first thought he was a sincere person. But the claim that he sent me a certified check for $1100.00 that never arrived and no response to my emails about it confirmed that I did not want to have any more to do with him. People can view your link in the previous post about his claim of hate mail. This happened right after my dealings with him, and I was very apprehensive that I would be the one accused of it. At that point I just decided to sit and watch what would unfold so that I could NOT be accused of anything as I have been in the past. My thoughts were if the guy is a fake, then give him enough rope and he will hang himself. If you look at the link most of the people that defended him are the same people that are vilifying him now. Members are to be commended for trying to defend a person, and at the same point shame on some of them for taking this persons word and credibility with out even knowing him at all. Lets hope it all ends soon, and he disappears, who ever he is. "Massillion"? "Toledo"? "Columbus"? Yeah right!

Enough, just as we are

It is a terrible burden for John to service the weight of all this subterfuge. The true beauty of this family at Washers is that we are accepted and are allowed to flourish in being just us. No one here needs a warehouse full of vintage washers, to be honored and respected. Blessings on you all and a double dip for Robert, who really is who I want to be, when I grown up.

We need some

"Gay" Cake!!!
I could go for about half of a "Just Desserts" 2 layer
Vanilla Cake. Served out back in the Patio of the
store on Church St south of Market in San Francisco. We'll
Vacuum up the crumbs with the "Lewyt Golden" , which will be
Robert's designated "Consolation Gift". Robert and a few
other "East of the Rockies" AW.O Dignitaries will fly over
"utjj99's" Toledo, by way of Aurora, Compound in the AW.O
Corporate Lear Jet and dump said crumbs. We will then proceed to colonize Mars! Perhaps when all the dust settles, I will permitt Robert one light peck on the lips!!!!!!!!

Liar,
You are really getting a kick out of yourself aren't you!
Laughing your head off at all of the fuss you have caused on the club, and loving all of the attention you are now getting. Attention at any cost without any regards to any person's feelings.
Sounds like you do this all of the time. Just to get attention. What a sad life you live!
You really need help, or take the meds your Psychiatrist has put you on, with consistency. You have been told all of your life to quit lying, but you can't.
You are a pathetic person, that really needs help.

Wow I just got back from a long weekend expecting an APEX not more drama... Well it just goes to show there are Looney Tunes everywhere. Ever since the whole sexual favors thing erupted I suspected that this guys Bendix wasn’t completely bolted to the floor!
Don't worry you will find one, just have to keep looking. I have a good friend that has turned into an Estate sale junky, he has strict orders to call and describe any appliance he see that looks vintage. You will be the second contact!!

BIG HUG FOR ROBERT

I am a somewhat new poster here, so I will keep my words about this to myself and besides I could not say it any better than Bethann did anyway. I just want Robert know I am sorry this happened. I am a quilt maker and an online quilt group I belong to had something similar happen once. A member claimed to be very ill and we all made quilt blocks and sent them to another member in the UK who assembled the blocks into a top and quilted it. She then canceled her vacation plans for that year to fly to our east coast to personally deliver this hug quilt to the ill member. When she arrived she found things to be not at all as we were led to believe. This wonderful caring lady from the UK was so hurt and dissapointed she left the group and we are all left without our very dear friend. I can't stand the thought of that happening again to a caring group of people such as this group is. I am finished rambling now but remain very sad. Scott AKA Quiltnbear

Please excuse this complete change in topic for a moment, but in Robert's last post on this thread (#152504) is anyone else seeing question marks encased in a black diamond shape where there should be an apostrophe (example: I'll)?

I've noticed this twice in the past couple of days.

Again, sorry for pulling this so far off topic, but I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this anomaly.

Hi Euguene, yes I'm seeing square where my quotes should be. The reason for that is in Vacuumland Off-Topic thread #50. I decided to try and specify a Unicode Character Set, but I see its causing problems, so I'm going to strip it out of the code as soon as I get a chance.

Luigi & Terry, I initially upon reading teh desire to share two free Apexes as well as RCA combos, had the same thoughts of Chad Miller. Thus, I kept my mouth (fingers) shut. I hardly even followed the thread(s) reagrding this until Thurs. or Fri. hoping against hope this not to happen to us again. Again, Robert, I can't say enough of what I feel inside--the loss, emptiness cuz I know it's still a pain and disappointment. I even wondered if this guy was Chad raising his ugly head. Bob

I too lived near Chicago and thought what the hell was he doing in Aurora when i could have seen maybe Kenosha or The Dells. I lived in Schaumburg and I know my way around there pretty well so right away I smelled me a rat when I read that story.
But on the bright side I have a feeling that someday the machine will pop up and we will look back on this and say WTF was all that about!

Sorry, Robert ...

Robert, first I want to thank you for giving us so much of your time and knowledge. Thanks to you, I have met some really nice folks through the site ... these are people who genuinely care about others:
Bob Amerman has become like a family member to me ... such a great guy. Greg Nunn has always been a great resource when I had repair questions. Jimmy (filter-flo) helped me to get several of my "dream machines" , as did John L and Bob Salem. It saddens me to see that someone could be so mean-spirited as to do this to you; but, it is his loss because he has missed out on meeting a great bunch of people. Thanks, Robert, for all of your help and kindness over the past few years ... I am always here if I can ever help you (and to return the favors and help that you have shown me); don't hesitate to call on me. I am a firm believer that "what goes around, comes around" is a true statement ... he will get his punishment somewhere down the line. Take care, my friend! Todd

As some point we'll read about this looney toon in the papers or see him on the news. I just hope it doesn't involve any physical violence to innocent people.

Robert, you'll find your machine. Your good deeds will not go unrewarded. You are too good a person.

Bethann, should you be out in Las Vegas, I'll buy you a drink! Very well said post.

Oh and for our little friend out there, a few parting words, "lo'fasz a seggedbe!" You'll need your Hungarian dictionary for that one. But the rough translation involves a horse, and a place where the sun doesn't shine.

Aurora, IL

I live minutes away from Aurora and I read the newspapers front to back. There has been NO information in the police blotter regarding this. Has he said at what hotel or where he located in Aurora? There are some nasty parts near the downtown area but there are also no major hotels in that area either. The downtown area is not near the interstate either.

I think it's all a bunch of BS and it takes a pretty pathetic person to sink so low to enjoy other people's misery.

Thanks Heather for that information, out of curiosity I called the Aurora PD's Records department today to ask if a similar report had been filed (which SHOULD be public information), but the clerk said "Well, we don't just give random information out over the phone, it's not fair to the person who's filing the report" blah blah blah...even after I gave the specifics. Oh well; I'm glad that someone has revealed the fact that no such report was filed.

And so goes the tale of Johnny Apex-Seed, Part IV...for now at least! ;-)

and Heather can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the majority of the "motels" just off I-88 are more like Hotels, with names like Shearaton, Marriot and Hilton...
Thieves would have lots of pickens there, more expensive stuff than a pickup with old appliances in the back...

...but I am really sorry to hear that someone, in their desperate search for attention, would pull a stunt like that.

I am sure your Apex will show up soon, Robert; you certainly deserve it. :-)

Take care,
Mike

Motels....Hotels......

There is a lot of hotels (nice ones) 1-2 exits before Aurora in Naperville. Aurora has a few nice ones but they are not right off the highway (unless you count the one right off Orcahrd Road Exit and even then, it's a Baymont Inn which is very well lit). If (and I say IF with a huge sigh), he had to be staying in a SEEDY area of Aurora. But then there is the whole issue of no store's being open. That's an outright LIE. My husband and I went shoppping all weekend in this area and everything was open! You can't get more than 1 mile before you run into a Wal Mart, Target, Meijer, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.

If you are traveling along I-88 and you do not know the area, you would stop in Naperville because they have a bazillion signs for hotels, resturants, etc. Aurora signs have some resturants but that's it (except for the Hollywood Casino!).

I have no idea what he is up to but all I can say is that we caught him red handed. There is no record of any police report being filed. If there was one, I could go and get a copy. :)

Please just go away and leave the nice people of this website alone (and on vacuumland.org too). You are not worth wasting all this webspace on anyway.

that from now on, should someone who really, truly, honestly, does find an Apex (and who is not readily known around these here parts) will have a huge burden of proof to overcome.

Oh well, my 1.78 cents......

Evil Eye

Robert, I hate to say this, but you brought the EE on this yourself. You should have begun the announcement with kinahora, the Yiddish word used to ward off the EE. Then you should not have allowed any talk about it until you had it. Or, if you talked about it, you would have had to change its name like parents of sick children would start calling or discussing the child using another name like Chiam meaning life, so that the EE would not know what had happened to the sick child and could not tell the angel of death where the child was. Next time, protect yourself. Don't risk losing another child.

EE= Evil Eye

Chris, I think you're absolutely right; The next time someone claims to have an Apex, I'm guessing photos of said machine showing the front page of the day's newspaper, birth certificates, blood screens, DNA tests and polygraph results will all be required, LOL.

And yes, even though all of us realize it was only a washing machine, it just seemed such an unnecessarily mean/weird thing to do to someone who has shared so much of his time and talent with us----all because some neurotic needed to be the center of attention.

I totally agree.....What will people do to cry out for attention???

Can we pick an adult theme and stick with it instead of reverting to childhood???

Thank you Robert for EVERYTHING you do for us here at AW~!

Well, I have been trying to avoid this thread as much as possible... It makes me nuts to think that someone is that sick! Robert, yes he did offer me 15 refurished Kirbys with attatchments and everything. I knew it was too good to be true and just ignored the email. Here is what he told me:

Hello,

I was looking through your pictures in your laundryroom post and I see
you had a Sanitronic 50. Are you a Kirby lover? In my few years I
have managed to gather about oh......15 Kirbys with all there parts,
accessories, shampooers, handi butlers and so forth. There is a Tradition,
sani 80, omega, classic, classic 3,etc.... Well, to make a long story
short........I'm very sick and well they are sitting in storage and
well I would rather they go to a good home where I know they would be
loved then to a yard sale and scattered to the four winds. If you want
them let me know. They are in Toledo so it wouldn't be a major drive to
get them.

Thanks,
John

It was quite a shock to learn from Austin that it was the same person that offered you the Apex!

some truth in that email...

"I'm very sick..."

Yeah ain't that the truth. I'm as floored as everyone is, I thought I'd seen it all but this guy changed my mind there.

Word has been put out on the vacuumland site as well.

Robert...I am sorry for your disppointment due to this ass-face. I do not post on here too often, and I am little behind reading the posts (obviously). Those who know me from here, know that I have the filthiest mouth on Earth and I have a few choice words for this shit bird who screwed you over; but I will do my best to constrain myself. :) Talk about getting screwed and having nothing to show for it. Jeez. I hope someone rips him a new asshole....and that he won't enjoy it. Karma is a bitch anyway. Again, Robert, sorry about your Apex loss. One day you will have your wish. I will wear all black today to mourn for you. LOL. Take care everyone.

Does anyone remember...

Chad? Was that his correct screen name? He lived in the Carolinas, I believe. First he was a teenager, then he introduced his cousin or uncle with the same name and email address? Poor thing could be alone in a ballroom and it would still be crowded with all of his personalities. He had everybody going in spite of tragic appliance disasters until he saw the truck loaded with dream machines, but did not try to catch it because he was going to a restaurant for lunch?

VEG, in public situations, the 3 onomatopoeic words are not required; "Kinahora" suffices. When the conversation is less formal, like among friends, they are often joined to kinahora. They can also be rendered as too, too, too. One Sunday when Maryland Public Television was airing a long string of programs about Jewish history (5767 years on 9 DVDs for only $250!), the number they kept repeating to make your contribution began 1-800-222. It was like a funny inside joke, but probably went over the heads of most younger viewers.

Just as I (and a few others) suspected.

Robert, I am just returning from Wytheville where I am trying to get the home construction completed, so I've missed a lot of this. I'm so sorry that you have had to go through all of this. I suspected from the start that this guy was a phoney and really full of shit. Seems like a phoney turns up at least once a year. However, I know that we WILL find one someday and when we do, we'll put your name on it. Hugs, Mark Lightedcontrols

Hate Guys who lie

I dis like guys who lie, as a gay guy I have been hurt over the years like so many guys here. I can tell a liar from 50 paces, best kicked into touch the same goes here. Best to try to get over it I know it will fester for a while, but the anger and pain will go in time. My sympathy to the people who got hurt.
