A big thank you goes out to Ben (swestoyz) who was kind enough to lent me these beautiful 1964 GE washer, dryer brochures and the 1961 Brochure for Washer-Dryer Combos to add to the library. I also added the 1984 Maytag Dishwasher service manual to the Library as well.

Thanks, Robert. The '64 GE brochure looks amazing! Love the mix of architecture and appliances within GE's advertising from this time frame.
Many, many moons ago I spotted a WA-950Y behind an appliance store with the matching dryer, that was destined for the scrap yard. While I grabbed the agitator from the washer, to this day I still don't know why I didn't grab the whole machine. #kickingmyself Ben | ||

One of my favorite GE sets, the 950Y!
The Jet-Swirl dispenser is one of the best, self cleaning dispensers GE ever had. | ||

The Marina Towers in Chicago had the laundry room in the common area in the center floors of each tower, equipped with GE, of course.

I have.. the DA-820Y model that I rescued from a damp basement. The bottom of the cabinet was rusted out, but after a transplant, it's good as new. Can't seem to date it properly. The serial# is YY211769 | ||

Marina City 
Was like a poster child for General Electric. *LOL*
Original kitchens were fitted out with GE metal cabinets, electric stove-tops, ovens, etc... Some units still have their original appliances. www.marina-city.com/blog/peek-ins... Marina City is also interesting due to lack of central heating, air conditioning, and hot water. Each unit had their own HVAC and hot water (General Electric?). Oh and the apartments/buildings are all electric, no natural gas or oil. It must cost plenty to heat and or cool those Marina City apartments. | ||

The two GE models like Bill's with the fluorescent light at the top of the control panel were BLINDINGLY BRIGHT. The next one up with the light at the bottom of the panel was not blinding, but the light did not go very far either. | ||

My former neighbor Thelma had a slightly newer GE Versatronic set with the light at the top. However, the light slanted downward somewhat so as not to shine directly into someone's eyes. | ||
