It does not agitate properly on the faster cycles. I.e. on gentle almost works fine. It seems like a worn out "agitator dogs" problem. However when I open it up the plastic agitator piece does not have any dogs on it. Just hole where it atttaches to the metal part. I am assuming that the dogs or equivalent is in the metallic base assembly. Does anybody have any directions on how to replace dogs/fix?
thank you

Agitators on early machines labeled Design 2000 were not of the dual-action type, so did not have an auger and no dogs.

Is it this type or similar?  No dogs are involved.
