“For sale: Maytag Automatic Washer Model HA407S. It belonged to my grandparents, who cherished and cared for it. It still washes wonderfully on all settings. It’s also quiet. They don’t make appliances like this anymore.

I’m letting it go because we just inherited another washer and dryer set, so we don’t need two.”

I bought this very same color set when we moved to TN 3 years ago. When we started the washer it leaked badly. My husband opened it up, inspected it and realized the tub had rusted out where a brace was connected. He wasn’t feeling up to tearing it down and we needed a w/d immediately, so he took the heads off (is that what you call the top where the controls are?) and a couple of other parts and will eventually sell them. It was a shame, because outside of the leak, they ran great. We ended up with a 1992 Whirlpool set that runs like a champ. If someone is interested in buying the “heads/ controls” let me know.

Are they by chance the control panels with glass panes?
Or is the white part of the panels made of plastic?

In response to Low Efficiency’s question

Unfortunately, they are the white and gold plastic panels.

No worries. You should take a few pictures of them, and post an ad here in Shopper's Square. I'm sure someone will have a use for them!

I picked up a HDE407 this weekend in pretty good shape. Glanced at the numbers and if I looked correctly the dryer was built in may of ‘74.
