Quick question for those that are in the know-

When replacing the belt in a dryer which side of the belt wraps around the motor pulley and drum? Is it the flat side of the belt or the grooved side? We just want to be sure.

The belt snapped on the dryer about two weeks ago and we have to replace it. My partner is the one doing the work since going into the basement isn't feasible for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Have a Great Day!

The ribbed side of the belt gets wrapped around the motor pulley. The ribbed side goes against the drum surface.

Coldspot66-

Thanks for the advice on the belt installation. My partner will probably tackle the job tomorrow. We've been out taking care of other things and it took the entire afternoon. I think we be pooped! hahaha

Will let you know how it turns out.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Frigidaire Gas Dryer Belt Replacement

This dryer was either built in 1990 or in 2000, Be sure with a dryer this old to check and at least lucubrate the rear drum bearing and also check the front drum bearing for excessive wear, usually by the time the belt breaks on one of these dryers other work is required to keep it running safely and well.

FD sells a kit the includes the F&R drum bearings, the belt and an idler pulley, this kit is usually your best parts buy to keep the dryer in good shape.
