A friend of mine had a black Quasar over the range microwave, from the early 90s. It had that same 1 min-10 min 1 sec-10 sec key setup I remember.

Was Quasar their own company and what happened to them? I remember seeing Quasar televisions and camcorders as well.

Recall those adverts from when one was young.

The skinny:

wiki2.org/en/Quasar_...(brand)

Basically Motorola sold its television and microwave division to Matsushita Electric who then became Panasonic.

And now we know the heritage of today's Panasonic microwaves and TVs.

Family friends had a Quasar microwave.  I never saw it but it was mentioned during a discussion on an occasion when we were visiting there.  I wouldn't have associated the Quasar brand with microwave ovens.

The Whirlpool RHM7700 that was our first had that arrangement for setting the time, although pushbuttons instead of touchpads.
