A local appliance dealer (WP/KA/MT, Friedrich window units, few lawn mowers) is shutting down after 40 years, today is the last day for the doors to be open. I was in there early last year, noticed a Speed Queen banner of possibly late 70s vintage hanging high up on a wall (he may have handled SQ years ago but not recently). Asked about buying it, he was non-cooperative. Maybe I should check again. They no longer carried any appreciable parts stock. I asked for a WP basket drive block a few years ago, took a worn one along for reference. The office girlie said she'd been there for 10+ years and had never seen one but could probably order it. |

With that attitude, closing is no mystery. |
