IIRC by late production SQ began cheapening things and going with porcelain including on their Amana models as well.
SQ's early calm to fame in the conventional washer race was when they moved to SS tubs over porcelain. Apparently the latter was better since it didn't chip and was seen as more long lasting. IIRC for a very short time SQ offered wringer washers with Monel metal tubs. |
