I can't make it back to Pittsburgh for Jerry's wash in and was doing some looking on mapquest. Orlando is about 7 hours from me, Atlanta, Columbia, Mobile, Montgomery, etc. I know about 10 years ago or so, there were quite a lot of collectors in Florida whom I sold a bunch of Frigidaire parts to. I was just curious if anyone is around the Orlando area and if so, would you be interested in having some fellow members over for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon/evening? I'd gladly pay for a caterer to deliver a buffet to your place. We could all drive in on Saturday and go back home on Sunday. There are certainly no shortages of hotels in that area. It's just a thought. Other parts of Florida might be just as good. Anyone is welcome here any time, but it is a long drive to Key West from most any place. Any thoughts? |

A Florida washin would be fun. I live about 30 minutes SW of Disney. There were a few people on AW that live in the area, I do not have a collection but could help out with food making, I love to cook. I have lived here for almost 9 years now. Moved from Easton PA just north of Philadelphia. My daughter went to college not far from where Moparwash lives. I wished his washins happened back then, my friend lives not far from him and I would have been there.

Rich
Having co-hosted quite a few washins over the last few years (and see today's thread about the last one held a couple of weeks ago) I would counsel that 15-20 visitors is really too many, especially first time out, not only with accommodation and catering but particularly from the point of view of having quality time to spend with each other to share stories, experiences and knowledge with each other. This has certainly been our experience here for, with a larger number, there is almost too much going on to be able to have quality conversations with anyone. So do not feel discouraged, go ahead with a smaller number I am pretty confident you will still have a really good time. Good luck Al |
