Hi Everyone,
I'm seriously considering purchasing this stainless Hotpoint combo. It's about four hours away in Louisiana. How do we move it. We have a Ford F150 truck which could certainly carry it, but what would it take to get it into the back of a pickup? Can it be done? How do you move these behemoths? It's currently plugged in and running. The seller says it's "kinda" one owner. He hasn't explained that yet, but it has all of the trim and the original owner's manual. Wow, that would make a great addition to your "vintage" kitchen. I would think you could lean it back and lift it upright into the bed of the truck with a couple of strong young men. |

I discovered some issues with one in NOLA, I’m looking at an almost identical one in Birmingham. It has a broken latch and possibly other issues. John (Combo52) noticed a lot of frost on the evaporator in the fresh food compartment that could indicate a bad thermostat or weakly sealed system. What are the odds of two Hotpoint stainless combos coming up for sale within weeks of one another?
So, I’m waiting and watching. She’s asking $1000. She tried to push me into buying it by saying an antique dealer was offering her $800 but she’d sell to me for $700. I called her bluff and told her that, since she was selling because she needed money, she should sell it to the dealer. She marked it sold, but a few hours afterwards, she marked it available again. I wrote more about in the Shoppers’ square forum. It’s just occurred to me that posts about items probably belong in the Super forum. Sarah CLICK HERE TO GO TO sarahperdue's LINK

I recall you talking about the one in Birmingham, and were waiting for her to come down in price. Sorry to hear about the one in NOLA and that it didn't work out after all. Hopefully the lady in B'ham will come to her senses and you'll be able to get it at a more affordable price. It is so strange that these two popped up fairly close together and down here. In my experience, it's been hard to find vintage appliances (especially refrigerators) in the deep south that are still working and in fairly decent condition.
