We believe that we are the owners of a launderbest machine. We are trying to remove the agitator because it appears as though a seal is broken and oil is coming out of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If we don’t have a launderbest, does anyone have an idea what we might have?

Hi, no worries, I am sure someone will come to the rescue! Wish I could help but no experience with wringer washing machines. “Launderbest” never heard of...

That's the largest fly I've ever seen.

You need to unscrew the big agitator cap on top of the agitator and remove it, but the agitator may still be stuck on the drive block. If it's still stuck you can try pounding gently downward with a mallet along the bottom fins of the agitator.

Manufacturer's plate present?

I would suggest checking one of the legs, or the skirt below the tub for a manufacturer's plate. At first glance, I thought it was a Universal (manufactured by Landers Frary and Clark (New Britain, CT.)
