My wife had the pleasure of torquing the screw component off of the cap end. Is there an issue in running without cap? I have done initial search on net for part, but it appears to be futile. Any secrets to finding old parts like this?

Thanks!!

I may have one.

Could you take a picture?
I am the one that put up a post about a hoard of dishwasher parts, and that model number rings a half-ding in me memory cells....

I think those caps were used on KA machines for a good ten or 15 years, so you're not stuck searching for the exact same model as your machine.

Maybe there's a donor machine curbside in your area.  Check the "free" section on Craigslist or the trade-in/scrap pile at an appliance store or repair shop.  In the meantime, you can buy one of those Jet Dry rinse aid blocks (if they're still making them) and hang it on the top rack.

Re Picture

Yes, I think I have one or more of those.
I will look through my stash tomorrow (if it's not raining), and will get back to you.

I found one!

Mine looks exactly like yours, minus the chewed-up part above the washer.
