So I was reading the Philco Bendix WGG-C brochure in this thread:
www.automaticwasher.org/c...

... and came across this line:
"LUBRICATION - Yearly check of transmission oil supply recommended."

Were these Bendix washers prone to oil loss for some reason?

Did other manufacturers of the time have similar maintenance schedules for their machines?

Did the average customer actually follow this regular/scheduled/preventative maintenance advice?

Funnily enough, the makers of the Launderall recommended an annual inspection of the transmission by an authorized service rep.

That Philco-Bendix "hula wash" was a pretty complicated mechanism, I can only guess that perhaps seals were prone to failure and could result in small leaks.
