Although I've lived here 18 years, I don't know of any appliance collections. There's an airplane museum if that's of interest. I'm sure you'll get some worthwhile answers from members. As far as my advice, take it from this scene from "The Wizard of Oz". The weather here is awful and it normally doesn't go back into the cooler 90's until late September. It was 115 last Saturday. Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip.

Yeah, I echo twintubdexter’s take on the weather in Palm Springs — lived in Phoenix for three years and it was absolute hell on earth. Weather, and conservatism make it an awful place in the bleak desert...

Well, we're not so close but if you want to drive around 150 miles, you'll be more than welcome to visit us in Los Angeles.

It's always nice to meet new people and make new friends.

Thomas and Darryl.

I certainly didn't mean to ridicule the Palm Springs area, or any other parts of the Country that people call home. It's just been very warm and some humidity has sneaked in from Baja and the Gulf. When I first moved here I don't recall any humidity. I guess no place is ideal and perfect every day. People adjust to where they live and learn to deal with heat, cold, rain & humidity as well as wind. Personally I think that people who have to deal with sub-zero winter temperatures are tougher than someone like me who's only experience with 0 degree temperatures is hunting for Hagen Daz in my freezer. Vintage appliance collection or not, I'm sure aircub will have a great time here. People are friendly, there's lots to do and the conservatism level in Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage is about "0".

My collection:

Maytag Neptune FL (Samtag)
The Laundry Alternative SuperPop
The Laundry Alternative Megawash (final prototype not released on the market)
The Laundry Alternative Silk Lux
The Laundry Alternative SCAW2GEN
The Laundry Alternative Project ORD prototype (Which was slightly modified and will reach the market in two weeks as Niagara HATL)
The Laundry Alternative EZ-Rinse (a twin tub that I hapily pulled out of production the day I started working for the company
The Laundry Alternative MiniWash Pink
LG washer-dryer all in one
Kenmore Catalyst
Hotpoint Portable (Same GE Portable made by Hitachi)
Maytag A-50
Kenmore All-In-On stacked washer and dryer (WCI-Frigidaire Skinny-Mini)
Magic Chef 1.6 cu ft washer
Speed Queen Ultra-Mate stacked unit with tilt-open top load washer and gas dryer
Electrolux Frigidaire Gallery stacked FL washer and gas dryer
The Laundry Alternative Project DFW (Top load washer with an agitator) prototype not released on the market
Speed Queen Marathon Washer
Speed Queen Marathon gas Dryer (not connected yet)
The Laundry Alternative Ninja spin dryer (Final prototype, reaching the market in 2 weeks)
The Laundry Alternative Mega spin dryer
The Laundry Alternative WonderWash (NIB, never used)
Whirlpool countertop mini wringer washer.
Magic Chef 2.26 cu ft dryer
The Laundry Alternative Project Heathrow prototype (Which was slightly changed and reached the market as Mojave Dryer, made in UK)
Whirlpool/Brastemp Eggo washer (I brought it with me from Brazil and it was a lifesaver during the first months here in the USA)

LG, Catalyst and Samtag belong to Kevin.

If I'm lucky, a new washer with a stacked gas dryer will be added within 10 days.

New prototypes and also some samples from partner companies coming within the next 20 days.

In less than a month I'll have to do something I don't do in ages... built an operational prototype myself (clay modeling/printing) for a new compact washer model that I'm starting to design.

I definitely need a bigger laundry room.

It was 115 last Saturday

I'll take 115F and low humidity any day verses the 90F and 80% humidity we regularly get here, plus frequent soaking thunderstorms to give the air a nice swampy feel.

I prefer to be broiled rather than steamed.

Soon we'll head back into the refrigerator for 5-6 months of what could be anything from an average winter to bone chilling polar vortex depending on how the coming grand solar minimum works out.
