Hi there!

At the beginning of the summer, I found my GE Americana P7. Right off the bat, we noticed that the sensi-temp burner wasn't working and doesn't appear to have worked for quite some time, due to crud buildup on the burner. I see that this is a common affliction among sensi-temp appliances. The other thing that we noticed is that our clock doesn't work, which leads to the automatic outlet and self-cleaning oven being dysfunctional. We got a new screw-in fuse hoping that might solve the problem, but it did not.

Looking for sage advice from all of you! What are the best avenues to search for in order to get everything working again? I contacted GE some months ago and they sent me the user manual from their archives that was closest to mine, but not quite the same. They were very kind, but ultimately couldn't help with the problems my range is having. I would love to keep her in full working order!

My opinion

Just install a infinite switch for the Sensi Temp, They never worked for long anyway, I have been messing with old stoves over 40 years and have never seen a working Sensi Temp.

Give these guys a call regarding your clock.

Hans advice is good, regarding the Sensi-Temp. Considering the sensor prices on eBay, throwing an infinite control in place of the responder is an economical way of getting that burner operating again.

Rookie

Thanks for the suggestions! What's an infinite switch? Where would I find one? Getting the burner working is way more valuable to me than the sensi-temp feature, so I would be happy with this solution!

Look for the obvious first, broken wires, etc.

The infinite switch is what the other surface units have. You want one for an 8 inch surface unit like the left rear uses. The nice thing is that you will still have the size selector function feature if the unit itself is still good.
