IIRC they were launched shortly after or same time as Malber, Equator, Thor, and Quietline were all trying to break into the USA market with "compact" H-axis washing machines, dryers, and combo W&D units.
Of course Creda, Miele, Asko, and Bosch were already in USA, but those were (and still are) pricey machines. None offered a combo unit for USA at that time either IIRC. Malber units first came from A. Merloni in Italy built in Switzerland or some European country (my Malber washer said COPA Switzerland...), but IIRC production at one point might have moved elsewhere (Asia). Equator was the next biggest seller of "compact" front loaders and washer/dryer units. Thor and Quietline were brand names slapped on goods made somewhere in Asia and imported to USA. Has been ages since looked it up, but IIRC the owner's of Quietline or maybe Splendide purchased the trademark/brand rights to "Thor" which had been long defunct. Last used for Hurley Machine Company's washing machines. In any event these Splendide units aren't on same shelf quality wise as a Miele or any other TOL or even MOL W&D combo unit sold in Europe. But since the American market has few choices (Equator long since has gone belly up), if you have an itch to scratch......... |

Manuals:
laundry.manualsonline.com/manuals... laundry.manualsonline.com/manuals... Owner of brand; Westland Sales: www.westlandsales.com... Now we turn an interesting corner of the road. Westlake is only a marketing/sales company, they don't build anything, but like Sears with Kenmore source things from elsewhere then slap a brand name upon. In this case Ariston appears to be the maker behind current Splendide laundry appliances and other things on offer: westlandsales.com/ariston/parts_b... westlandsales.com/ariston/parts_b... |

its an Indesit washer dryer, lower end model here but have known many to last, should be around 1200 rpm with a fan blower heater unit which condenses the steam into water and pumps it away (it does use water during the drying process to cool the steam)

Which brings things full circle, since Indesit is a Vittorio Merloni company. Or rather was, as Whirlpool got hold of > 51% of Indesit stock thus making it majority owner.
www.whirlpoolcorp.com/whi... The deal made Vittorio Merloni clan quite wealthy: www.forbes.com/sites/afon... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indesit_Co... |
