On Craigslist San Francisco is a posting # sale-204240958 (Collectibles) for a 1953 Hotpoint washer for sale. The washer with a neon light under control panel. Anyone interested? Willow Glen/Cambrian are districts in San Jose California.

Well, it doesn't look like my 1953 Hotpoint

Can anyone tell the year of this machine? Sorry about the size of the pic but that's the way it came. Anyway the craigslist person emailed me a pic so if anyone is interested here is some more information.

Amazing how those Beam machines just keep on kickin'! Looks like it's in decent shape as well...I hope someone saves it!

It hard to make out the agitator, but I suspect this is a 1954 model. The agitator cap looks very odd, I have never seen one look like this. The word "Fluidmatic" on the control panel tell us that this machine is still a fluid drive beam design, sometime in 1955 they changed to the poorly designed new spin clutch which was only used for a few years until they came out with the Co-Axial transmission in '58.

It says Fluid Drive on the dummy knob. From the looks of this panel, there is probably a fluorescent light above.

Oooo, wish it was closer! Is there something missing from the knobs or are they complete? Does anyone have a better pic they can post of this model?

Here is another picture

I've blown out the exposure to get a better look at the agitator if anyone is interested.

I do hope someone picks this up. Is anyone close? I might be interested in something.

The poster of the original Craigslist ad has a new ad for the Hotpoint washer. He now states that the washer does not work.

Actually we had a 55' and all the tubs were small for washers at that time. That adjator cap is rather different. Has this machine been tested? It does look to be in good shape.

I am amazed that any appliances, this old , have survived all these years. Enjoy your find! Sincerly, Kevin Campbell(speedqueengkc)
