A big thank you goes out to Ben who recently lent me some great sales literature to add to the Ephemera Library.

#1 Built-In Dishwasher Comparison
KitchenAid 18 Suburba is compared to GE, Maytag, Waste King, Sears/D&M and Whirlpool top-of-the-line dishwashers. It's a fascinating read actually.

#2 1968 Easy Automatic Washer Brochures
#3 1968 Easy Automatic Dryer Brochures
From the 1959 to the 1965 line Easy automatic washers used their own Velva-Power transmission, then starting in 1966 it seems that Hubb the company that owned Easy at the time closed the Easy factory and had Hotpoint build their automatic washers for the next few years. It was about that same time that Hotpoint introduced their filter/spirl-agitator which I'm sure was no conincidece. Here is the 1968 line of Easy Washers and Dryers. Interesting to see is the top-of-the-line model has variable speed control!

The KitchenAid document is really cool Phil, I have a feeling KA made that to counter the Why Maytag Means More book which was Maytag's comparison of other brands from only one year earlier. Both manufacturers put an interesting spin on everything to say the least!

One year earlier or later?

Whirlpool and GE also put out comparison books that blew holes through a lot of items that KA and MT called advantages, I have several of the WP books around, these comparisons always make for interesting reading.

Comparison of Dishwashers!

I never understood why GE didn't continue with the potscrubber2 design. It seemed like a well designed DW and I wish they would have continued to make them!

Those books were examples of creative writing.

Peter, this is just a guess, but those GEs were very water hungry and I think they were withdrawn as GE moved to find more water efficient machines. I don't understand them pulling those models either. I remember looking at the one on the floor at Woodies at Wheaton Plaza before KitchenAid came out with the 18 series because I knew the importance of the wash arm under the top rack.

Comparison of Dishwashers!

Your right Tom I think the normal cycle used 17 gallons! But GE still could have redesigned them to use less water!

Interesting comparison sheet

Of course written by Hobart to highlight their machine. All sales pitches aside the Hobart/KA KDS-18 was probably the best DW made until the WP PC units came out.
