I have a friend that has an apartment size electric stove that he bought from Lowe's about 10 years ago.  His big element has burned out and he is having trouble finding a new one.  He says it is 7" across the top of the burner.  Would this be classified as an 8" burner ???  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My sister has one of these in their guest house, although it's about 22 years old. To the best of my knowledge, the units are standard elements. Perhaps the best idea is to take the old one to a parts distributor to get the proper replacement.
