Replace the timer.... super easy fix. Indeed, this washer was one of the very best washers made by Elux. |

Hi, a common fault on these machines is that the tacho generator on the rear end of motor comes apart. If no feedback from the tacho generator is sensed power to the motor is cut. To check to see if it this causing the problem firstly disconnect machine from the power supply. Then lay machine on its back. On the rear end of the motor is the tacho generator . What sometimes occurs is that the plastic screw securing the tacho magnet to the end of the armature unscrews itself. To remove the tacho coil pry it out from motor casing, its the round piece with 2 wires coming out of it then check to see if the small magnet is fastened tightly to the end of the armature, if not screw it back together. Refit tacho coil into its seating, if its a loose fit some glue may be used to secure it . I think this would be the first thing to check and a cost effective fix. This mainly happens to machines fitted with Sole/Zem motors. Hope this helps . Regards Nigel.

Hi both, ok thanks. Hi Nigel, OK, I'll try and check that. This tacho generator, would it cause the motor to stop completely? Is there any way I can up load a video I took, so that you can see exactly how it is behaving? Many thanks. |

Hi Nigel, My sister's washing machine is 30 mile away from me, and I'd like to know as much as possible before I drive there. Can I send you the video of the machine, for your opinion on the possible fault, before I visit my Sister? Thanks |

Hi , you described the fault/ symptoms very well. This fault would stop the motor as if no signal is received by the timer module it cuts the power to the motor. The motor will accelerate briefly then stop otherwise the motor would rev uncontrolled. If you go to youtube and search Zanussi tacho coil there some posts which show the part concerned. Hope this helps, regards Nigel
