Does anyone else order from Sears Parts Direct? I understand that all of the walk in Sears Parts Direct have closed. Only the online version is available.

I ordered a new switch for my GE cooktop, Sears was the only website that showed in stock for the item. That was on Aug. 20. Then they emailed me to say the part was out of stock and would be ordered. Should ship on Sept. 20. Then the website showed it should ship on Sept. 10 but did not. I called a couple of times and did a chat. Now they say the part is reshipping.

I looked on line today and Yelp has many, many one star ratings for Sears Parts Direct. Seems that everyone is getting the same information, out of stock, back in stock, will ship etc. Probably tomorrow I will see if I can get my money back. The part is back in stock on other websites. Many on Yelp say the site is actually a scam now.

Numerous times since 2006.  Aug 2018 was the most recent (some AquaSmart items and two WP neutral drain kits) so can't say what may have happened since then.

Did have a couple incidents of items coming up out-of-stock after placing the order.  Seems their database doesn't update very well on OOS or NLA.

The further glitch on that is that they charge the ccard immediately.

In one case I waited (for 5 months!) to see how long until they "voluntarily" canceled it and issued a refund ... which they didn't until I called to request it.

I use them to find the part number, then I usually buy elsewhere.

goatfarmer ....

Ditto. ALWAYS found a better price somewhere else. As if Sears corporate never came up for air to see what their competition was doing.

Sears' existence has been far below hand-to-mouth for years now.  They're unable to store large inventory across the enterprise, one would think, because they can't buy any.  Add to that their abominable, poorly maintained on-line presence that is likely way out of date with regard to inventory, along with sentiments expressed above, and the best decision is to buy elsewhere.

The website had

good schematic prints that you could enlarge to see better. Parts and nos. were all well labeled. I did it when we repaired our dryer.

I just looked,

and the parts direct site with diagrams is still up. It has all brands they carried parts for, or serviced.

I've used it to look at diagrams, but never ordered anything. I was planning to order some parts for my vacuums while I still can, but most seem to be available through aftermarket now anyway.

Our Sears is closing next month and I expect the chain will be going out soon. The headquarters in IL is up for sale according to a Forbes article I read. Insiders are saying the majority of the corporate staff have been laid off and it's now just a small crew at this point.

I imagine the issues with Sears Parts Direct have something to do with that.

I just ordered an oven door gasket from Sears Parts Direct thru ebay on 9-20, not remembering that Sears is imminently going out of business. They had the best price and in the past I’ve not had any problems with them. Of course since its ebay. they already have my payment. It's due to be received by 10-1, so I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

Shipping from Manufacturer

The latest from Sears is that the part will be shipped from the Manufacturer, GE. No indication that this is happening yet. Maybe Sears is not paying GE so no shipping from them. I kind of want to wait and see if I actually get the part since some of you are still receiving stuff from them, maybe only items that they actually have in their own warehouse. I used their Chat system two days ago which seems to be staffed by real people. Only reason I ordered from them in the beginning is because the part was out of stock on other sites. Obviously not in stock at Sears either, but the website showed it in stock.

I received my GE oven door gasket today, 7 days after I placed the order on ebay. Sears Parts Direct had the best price and I can’t complain about the time they took to get my order to me.

Update

I received my new GE switch today, after 40 days. In the mean time, the Cooktop fixed itself. The indicator light was on continuously, it should be on only when a burner is on. That is why I ordered a new switch figuring it was sending a false signal to the light. Now it only lights when a burner is turned on. I will keep the switch in case the symptom comes back. I had another GE cooktop, and it had the same thing happen, since it was about 10 years old I bought a new one. This one had the light stay on after only 2 years and I was ready to buy a new cooktop, but GE has discontinued the coil type cooktop. I may buy a new cooktop but am not sure if I really want a smooth top or even induction.

Sears parts

I order a few things from sears. Their website is annoying. I access the commercial side and their prices are great on one or two items and free shipping. I did have a spat with them once over an evaporator or compressor, took 3 weeks. Most is one week delivery.

I probably do one order a month with them or less
