How good were these little top-load washers?

I've heard nothing but good things about them. Sturdy little washers.

Had the same machines for years. Worked really well. The dryer is a bit slow due to the 120 v but it does get the job done.

Is a testament to build quality.

You can find scores if not more of those Kenmore washers and or dryers out there.

Had a set like these in my first non-shared apartment in the 80s! Damn good machines.

I call them the

"Chevelle" of the Whirlpool belt drives. About 3/4 scale of the full size 12 lb. machines. Otherwise identical in design, and integrity.

Compact Whirlpool Laundry Appliances

While these great compact W+Ds have the same quality parts as the full sized machines there are only about 1/2 the usable size at best.

They are good for about 6 #s of laundry and because of their smaller size if you do the same amount of laundry in them they usually last about 1/2 as long because of all the extra loads you have to run.

The only reason that they still turn up fairly often is because like portable DWs many of these machines got pushed aside and were not used much.
