Check out this machine! I went out and saw it in person but itís more than I want to take on. The couple who have it on their back porch are very nice and want it to go to someone who appreciates it instead of just junking it. It definitely needs an overhaul but itís a neat machine none the less. Canít beat the price!

Was this still the design with the 1140 rpm spin or was this part of the 2nd generation that had the slower spin speed?

Bob, I believe it's the 2nd generation model.  I have one like this already otherwise I'd be all over this one!

So tempting.

Just a couple of hours drive north for me. But I wouldn't know where to start in rebuilding it. Sigh.

Early GE Automatic

We had one like this, it is not the super fast original design but it still spins faster than 750 RPMs, much faster that any GE that came later.

Paul did you get then you have from us ?, Are you you using it ?

Yes, John, the machine I've got is the one that I believe you found many moons ago (at a Maytag dealer's, if I remember correctly). The machine has also belonged to Robert, but I am 'fostering' it for Jon Charles. But in the meantime, I am using it occaisionally! It's not in service at the moment, but I do enjoy playing with it.

Photos from the original ad, saved for prosperity. Definitely a two belt AW5.

If this was anywhere near the Midwest I would have already jumped in the truck. Someone please save this.

This machine is rated at 650rpm spin speed, it is an AW5 series model. Hope someone saves it!

Did anyone save this? I reached out to the seller at one point but never heard back.
