The Drexel Hampton Court furniture is very similar to what my parents bought in the late 40's. Mine however is Drexel's New Travis Court design, which is a little less ornate.

I remember as a kid when we did our living room in that Weldwood paneling, the backside said "Guaranteed for the life of the home it is installed in".

Wow! the price of the Drexel

furniture from 1952 is less than you pay today for a cheesy unassembled piece by Sauder. Sort of like the bill I have from my birth in 1960. $157.00 for 3 day hospital room, delivery charge, anesthetic, doctor's fee and all. Blue Cross of Pa.

That CMP Aladdin roaster looks like the one my dad's Aunt Hazel had. She may have got hers around that time as she and her first husband had married around 1910. I guess we must have sold it after Uncle Fred passed away, as I don't remember it coming to our house. If not, it's possible my sister has it.

Wear-Ever aluminum roasters are now made by Vollrath, and are rather expensive.

That aluminum roaster is just like the one that my Great Aunt Hannah used to bring the Thanksgiving turkey in to my Dad’s side of the family Thanksgiving every year. She and Uncle Orville didn’t drive and someone would drive to their house and bring them and the turkey to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. I can still see them getting out of the car and either my Dad or my Uncle Joe carrying in that huge roaster with the lovely aroma of the fully roasted turkey drifting all the way into Grandma’s house.

We always had about 25 or more people, and since some people didn’t like turkey,Grandma always baked a ham and Aunt Louise made a roast beef and Aunt Hannah brought the turkey. We didn’t always go to Grandma’s for Thanksgiving, but the years that we did, this was always the drill.

I got my paternal grandmother's roaster from my mom when I began hosting thanksgiving at my house in the early 1990s.  We used the same roaster to roast our turkey yesterday.  My uncle was born in 1918 and my dad in 1921.  It's very possible the roaster dates back to the time of the ad.

I remember when they installed Weldwood paneling in the living room as a kid. I do remember on the back of each sheet it said "Guaranteed for the life of the home it is installed in" Wonder if its still in that living room.

Re: Reply #62 Yes Tim,

wood paneling was the rage in the late 50’s and early 60’s. My Dad had our “Rumpus Room” paneled in Philippine Mahogany in 1959. And the floors throughout the L shaped ranch style home were cork, and we had radiant heating. I’m pretty sure that the paneling and corks floors were long ago ripped out in a remodel.

Did paneling jobs in shop class-remodeled basements-with wall panels.Went up easy and quick compared to painting and wallpapering. The REAL wood panels were nice-NOT the fake cheap paticlebaord ones with the "photograph" of wood on them. And those were harder to insall-crumbeled-and would dull saw blades-you would see sparks coming off the cicular blades!!!What was in those things???

Do they still make

Handiwipes?
The Kroehler add for the mauve colored sofa is matleze' and frizze'. It was very popular throuought the 50's. My aunt had a gorgeous curved one in a sort of "Clarence House" fashion rainbow floral print. The seating surfaces also had velvetine.
The Glade add from 1976 reminds me of "An American Dad" cartoon episode. Roger the alien is in drag and works in an office. He accuses sexual harrassment after he offers a male coworker glazed donuts held at crotch level. "Something glazed and bad for ya?" he asks. Should have beeen glazed, or Glade for ya?

I think Handi Wipes were recently discontinued by Clorox; not sure if permanently or temporarily.

I've not bought them for a long time, as I get the Array brand at GFS. They are just as good, and less expensive.
