So, some may remember I picked up the Canadian version of the GSD2800 almost two years ago. The display was acting up, it seemed to get mad about over filling, and it also just gave up when it couldnt open the detergent dispenser. I couldnt get the tank and, well 95% of it since it was so rotten and damaged, but I ended up keeping the door and the control panel. I finally got around to looking at it last night with a plan.

My plan was to open the control board and have a look around, and then install a new capacitor start motor on the Medallion 850 I have and attempt at a modification. I cut back some of the wiring that was damaged from either a leaking rinse aid dispenser or something else with a plan to splice or just put new wires in the connector block. The whole control panel seemed to be coated in some kinda pasty goo even on the inside. Whatever was in there wrecked and discoloured the wiring. This couldve been a fire waiting to happen.

In picture three you will see the circuit board pathways are bubbling from water damage.

In picture four, you will see the terminal block for the motor control is burnt. I plan on re-soldering it.

Thoughts... Should I just cut my losses and scrap the door, or resolder the bad motor terminal and just hope for the best?
