Hey there! Since I rebuilt the '61 Kenmore I've had a problem with suds. Even when I use HE detergent, there is so much suds created UNDER the basket (between the basket and the outer tub). There won't be any suds on top of the clothes, but the machine kicks into spin and starts creating suds. Enough to slow down the spin action. The pump is new, no kinks in the hoses, and the machine drains completely before going into spin cycle. With light loads, it spins fine. But with towels I have to let it spin a little, then stop the machine. When I stop it there is a load of suds that comes up.
QUESTION: Could it be the tub baffle? The one that holds the main drain hose in place. It has "wings" on it to help clean the tub during wash action. My other Kenmore did not have the wings on it. Never had an issue. I understand lots of people break off those wings. Is it because of the suds, or another reason? Thank you all for your help!!!!!!

Suds

There is a breather hole in the plasic manifold trap that could be clogged. If it is that will happen. You also will need a good low sudsing detergent.I use BioKleen from Whole Foods or Maxim which you get online. Would like to see pics of this 61 kenmore
