Happened to stumble upon this the other day while strolling through my local craigslist. In good shape. Don't know the exact year, but I'd wager probably mid 1960's? Might consider contacting the owner tomorrow.

Description: "Good Sears Kenmore Washing Machine.
This is an older machine. It works well. They don't build the new machines to last like these heavy duty older machines. It looks good as well. Priced for quick sale."

You are correct. This is a 1964 model 70 series, and it looks like its in great condition. Definitely contact the owner; you don't see too many of these appear.

Thanks, I think I would've guessed in the bounds of 1964/65. I saw a listing on Google for a matching dryer which had a model number of 110.6408701. I gathered the 4 in the model# had something to do with the year.

I always liked this washer, our neighbors across the street had this model, this one even looks like it has the Suds-Saver option.

Well...

I contacted the owner yesterday about picking it up on Friday. He said he wouldn't hold it for anyone, but if it was still available by then he would sell it to me. I said OK, cool. Well last night the posting was removed. I asked him if the machine was still available, he said someone else had put a deposit on it and is supposed to pick it up Tuesday, and if they don't show up, he would contact me. Sooooo... There's still a possibility, but we'll see.

Steven

I'm holding out hope that the buyer won't pick it up, and that you get it. If he/she does pick it up on Tuesday, hopefully it will be given a good home.

Well, no luck.

Haven't heard anything from the seller, so I can only hope that machine went to a good loving home where it will be treated the way it deserves to be treated; like an fine art piece.

Check in with him tomorrow to be sure. Not to keep your hopes up unnecessarily, but there's always the possibility it's still there.

Thank you for posting this machine. Please see my post in the main forum. I’d like to add that I wasn’t aware that you were planning to get this machine and I jumped on it and emailed the seller. Rest assured that the machine will be well-cared for. Hopefully you will get an opportunity to visit the Portland area and see some machines and meet up.

Oh wow!

So YOU were the other person that beat me to it huh? Well that's excellent that you were able to get it! Quite a drive from Portland! Congratulations Jon! Best of luck with your new (old) machine!

A very long drive and wouldn’t recommend doing it without a night of rest in their somewhere. Thanks for the well-wishes. Hopefully you’ll make it out to Portland sometime.

Portland

I don't currently have any plans to go that way, but you never know what the future might bring!

This is a happy ending.

Jon: Congrats on picking this one up and adding it to your collection.

Steven: Although this washer did not end up with you, keep your eyes open. There are still plenty of gems out there.
