Stackable Maytag Washer/dryer

This exact model was sold from 1985- the early 90s after which all MT stacks were mechanical controlled and continued till 2006 when WP closed the factory.

All these MTSs had electronic dryness control, they all were were just one speed washers however. The washer was Mts standard capacity and the dryer was on the small size for a 27" wide machine [ smaller than FDs & WPs 27" offerings ]

Most of the mechanical parts were the same as MTs standard DC washers and SOH dryers, the dryer had a unique motor and a little lower wattage heater element.

Biggest problem with this set-up was getting the dammed thing level, the combined machine has EIGHT feet that all have to be exactly adjusted to the floor surface and then there are EIGHT lock nuts on the feet that have to be tightened to keep the feet in place. Try doing this when the thing is in a closet and you cannot get to the sides or rear of the machine, needless to say only about two of these machines were ever installed properly.

Other than these short comings these were pretty good machines, they tended to have around 3-6 service [ repair ] calls in their average lifetime of around 15-30 years, We still work on several of these machines every week here in the DC area.

Checkrate/Likes Around that vintage as my sister bought the identical model. Standard capacity Fabric-Matic and dryer was Auto Dry, not Electronic Control.

Checkrate/Likes *Stacked Unit* I have ALWAYS wanted one of these. I had the chance to buy one but was worried about the electronic controls. Huge mistake on my part now I realize. Never have read about any problems with them from anybody. I would give up my stackable Frigidaire washer n GE dryer for this in a heartbeat. Wish it was closer to me...Mpls Mn here How much are they asking for this unit n are they gas or electric????

Checkrate/Likes worth having as a back-up set....standard capacity, but still handles a family size load..... definitely a workhorse pair.... best part, it separates for moving and install compared to other stacked pairs...

Checkrate/Likes *Steve,* No idea whether it's gas or electric, but I'm going to guess electric. The estate sale was actually a couple of weeks ago, and I was told that none of the appliances were for sale at the time. I left my name/number and told them I was interested in the fridge ('67?? GE) and the dishwasher (KDS-18). Ran into a person today who was helping with the sale and was told that the W/D would be for sale. She's going back there on Monday so I can ask her to verify if it's gas or electric and get a price. The dishwasher is "gone" and the fridge is still not for sale. Checkrate/Likes One of the townhouses in my complex had a set. I reached out to both sellers and buyers. Both refused to sell. I saw the set in the dumpster about a month after the new neighbors moved in. They had thrown soo much renovation debris on top there was no way to save them.
