GE got the Roper Plants in around 1990, Whirlpool got the Roper name.
When GE got Ropers plants many of their ranges & Wall ovens started coming out of the Roper plants, and they were crap compared to what GE had been building.
The great majority of GEs gas ranges have come from a GE factory in Mexico the last 20 years or so, Their electric ranges have been built in the US, and most have lost the crappy Roper design and poor build quality.

Our GE BOL electric range was bought new in 2017 and I just looked at the serial number sticker near the storage drawer and it says that it was built in Mexico.
Regardless, this stove is very good quality by todays standards, nothing equals the quality of yore. I’ve been very happy with this stove, its simple and does just what its supposed to do. The oven bakes evenly, the broiler works flawlessly, and the burners all maintain set temps without fluctuation. Its easy to keep clean and looks nice in the kitchen, kinda like new retro. Eddie |
