Normally I'd let stuff like this pass in hopes someone else would post, but both are too good to not share.

First off - a really clean 80's digital Whirlpool, and secondly a Caloric with a "digital" timer. Wonder if there is a rapid advance mechanism that drives the count down clock as well as the timer?

The Caloric has a rapid-advance timer.  Greg had this or a similar D&M produced dishwasher years ago. Wish I could read the lettering of the cycle buttons as well as the sequence lights.

Sequence is: wash rinse rinse wash rinse rinse dry and water heat.

Cycles are: rinse & hold, short wash, plastics wash, full wash, super wash and cycle advance.

Buttons: 150° Sani-Rinse on or off, Power Saver off or heat on.

I did have this rapid-advance model but with the Roper badge.  It was a well-enough cleaning dishwasher and relatively quiet, but the racking was maddening.  It's hard to imagine a worse racking design than the GE/Hotpoint lower rack I had previously, but the Roper/D&M pop-up tower was indeed worse.  For such a fully featured machine, D&M really hit bottom here.

The digital countdown timer for cycle completion is pretty cool...
