Accidentally bumped my KitchenAid into my sink (thank God, no water) but had chipped the enamel off of the bottom part of my base. The sink sustained no damage. It's about a quarter-sized chip. Can this be fixed?

I would

find out where the nearest factory approved servicer is located, and takeit/ship it to them.

Contact Kitchenaid and don't be surprised if they reply with a message like "For God's sake please forgive us, we will never let that happen again, please go to our website and choose whatever model you prefer and we will send it at no cost for you, no matter if you KA mixer is 530 years old. As a compensation for the horrible distress, please also choose a toaster or a hand blender or an electric kettle or a stand mixer accessory and we will make sure you receive them in under 24 hours with a white glove service and the delivery driver will be Martha Stewart.

Actually, the after sales service for the stand mixers is probably the only thing that REALLY works well at KA. If it was whatever other product, they'd say "Well, it happened, not our problem, deal with it. That's all! Have a nice day, Bitch!"

Actually, it happened to me (my KA mixer started a clicking noise). I contacted KA and their very first reply was "a faulty KA mixer is unacceptable for us, please choose whatever model and we will send it at no cost for you. as a compensation for the inconvenience caused by a defective KA mixer, please accept a courtesy small appliance.

I don't know about finish, but mechanically they handled my repair on a 20 something year old machine and returned it in like new state.

They have a repair/refurbish unit at the factory, much like Kirby does for their vacuums.

Repair and Refurbishment Department

1701 Kitchenaid Way

Greenville, OH 45331

1-800-961-0959 EXT 2865

When you contact them you pay $34 plus change (at least that what it was last year) for the ship kit. They send you a pre-paid packing box to send it to them.   They also charge $60?? for a diagnostic charge when it is received by them

I was very happy with my repairs. When you send your mixer back, they request you send the bowl, and flat beater. They replaced my flat beater and adjusted the bowl height.  Any repairs they do, the $6?.?? diagnostic charge is credited to the final repair bill.

Again, I am not sure about finish repairs, but it is worth a call to them.  It's toll free.

If it's just the enamel paint that got chipped and it's not in a prominent location where you'll have to look at it all the time, a small bottle of appliance touch-up "paint" (about the same size bottle as typewriter correction fluid) could make it less noticeable.  That's if your mixer is white.  You can find it at ACE.   Apply it sparingly

I used touch-up on my '57 GE Combination fridge and can't even find a lot of the spots where I applied it.  Same for my vintage Penncrest upright freezer.  I also used it on my vintage K45 mixer, which had scratches near the top of the stand where the sharp edge of original bowl, which didn't have the rolled rims like later ones, had caused ugly scars over the years.

Makes me wonder about the lip on my Oster blender jar, as I uncharacteristically tried to get a glass in the dishwasher forcibly beside it, only for it to chip off, knowing that Sunbeam Corporation won't be as generous, and me loving to have two blender jars (sometimes needing three available in rotation) will find it very hard going (back) to just one...!

Yes, I need two blender jars and the demand for milkshakes make me wish I had three... (I have three bases, two blades and three rings, often contemplating buying a pack of another three packaged in my occasional visits to a hardware store, three cover and two caps)

So despite the small chip on the lip, I used the jar, licked off the drippings, and put in the washer to use again, with confidence of no bleeding or ingesting glass...

As for getting back to Kitchen Aid components/products, here is a chip on my mixer blade, as I’d gone through a brief period of it being hard to take off its axis, wondering if I just should replace the appliance...

The bowl is okay, with nothing in there getting marred, but that blade had gone on improperly for it to emit a loud banging while doing its job, and suffer that small dent...
