Hi Chuck, Are you a member of BGMC? My hubby is a founding member of the Albany Gay Men's Chorus. It came about after years of enjoying the BGMC in Provincetown. We have gone to the Holly Folly for the last 20 years, to see them in concert at the Town Hall. Great performers! |

Going to a Thanksgiving Eve party. Will be making cranberry cocktail meatballs and I got a nice $17 bottle of wine,
Thanksgiving day is dinner at moms, I’ll be taking a bottle of wine for me, cabbage rolls, dinner rolls, and green bean casserole, and my VHS copy of a Christmas Vacation to view after dinner |

Rich is a member. He joined a year ago and has really been enjoying it. We'll host a post-holiday holiday party and a bunch will come to that- I'll have karaoke set up. We had a ball last year! Chuck |

and thats fine with me, sometimes we really enjoy being home without company on Thanksgiving, and this is one of those years.
David always looks forward to his “Turk Bird” for T-day. And I enjoy cooking a turkey dinner. I bought a 6.5 lb. turkey breast. Today I baked the rolls, to reheat tomorrow, made the Lime Jello Salad, the dressing with homemade croutons from my homemade WW bread, no pie this year, baked a Pumpkin Pecan Crunch Cake, and got the yam casserole ready for the oven tomorrow. So, tomorrow will be easy. I’ll just need to roast the turkey breast, make the mashed potatoes, make the gravy, reheat the rolls, open a can of Cranberry Sauce and heat the peas and pearl onions,, and call it Thanksgiving. And we both love the leftovers, and with a MW for reheating they taste almost as good the next day. We’ll have the leftovers for at least the next four days, so that’s a plus too, cooking already done for days. We’ve got plenty to be thankful for, David’s retired now, we have good health, and happy marriage and a safe, dry, warm, paid for roof over our heads. We count our blessings. Hope everyone here has a Happy Thanksgiving. Eddie |

Gobble Gobble....yeah, I speak a bit of Turkey-ish!...lol
just doing the basics as a regular everyday dinner.... doing OK, but not a great time for me...family stops by, and you put on a fake smile.... if there were two choices, I would rather be alone, or having a Wash-In event....enjoying a bottle of Cold Turkey!... what ever you guys choose, Enjoy your day, and do what makes you Happy!....and think about the things were Thankful for..... |

Lucky Greg! What did you order? I love to eat there. Don't get to go often, as the closest location is in Florence, KY. My friend Doug took me there for my birthday in July. I've had the Bluegrass Special sandwich several times, and also like the House Salad, with the honey mustard bacon dressing. |

Just me. Brother is across the county, weather is lousy, he and I run on different tracks. We've dinnered before but less since it's farther.
Through the past I've cooked whole from scratch for 3 bedrooms of housemates and visitors, cooked breast roast for 2 or 3. Also several times, turkey TV dinner out of contempt for holidays.
Lately I get 1/3# deli sliced from roast, heat in jar gravy, pour over Stovetop with green peas and whole cran sauce sides on a 215* plate. Chased with the last sliver of Boston cream pie, I'm stuffed. Had to eat anyway, not that much effort to up-special it, and everything is done in the antique µwave except the stovetop which is done... on... the... stove... top. Cleanup is a pan, a casserole, a plate and a cup and none of it is baked-on.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was beanie weenie Friday. And cut into the next Boston cream pie, already on deck. |

Thanksgiving was pretty muted this year. It was just my parents & brother & I. My oldest brother lives a few states away and he & his wife go to her parents for t-giving. We used to host a big celebration in years past, but people die (my grandparents from both sides), move, etc. So the last number of years it has been just us.
This year, though, we just had to put down our 13 1/2 year old pup 2 weeks ago. So no one was really into "celebrating." He usually got a nice little turkey plate with us. We miss him greatly.
I went to the local butcher & bought stuffed chicken breasts, so no need to make filling or roast a whole turkey. My mother made baked corn & green been casarole (never a fan of green beens) in foil pans for easy clean up. We also made Pilsbury southern biscuits for another easy item.
I usually like this time of year, but this year was different. |

Went to the mobile (don't say trailer) home park near me in Rancho Mirage (very close) where friends live. They had a turkey dinner at their huge elaborate club house that's dated, seldom used and like the park sort of in decay. It must cost a fortune to air condition it in the summer which contributes to their minimum $1,200 a month space rental for a dinky strip of "land". The dinner was pretty good for $15 and I was home in plenty of time to feed my dogs. The topic of conversation at the table was mainly about expensive Palm Springs restaurants that are way out of my league.
When I bought my modest house I was impressed with the open floor plan, the huge kitchen island and the Kosher kitchen with two of everything...sinks, ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers etc.. I envisioned big holiday parties with friends. It really never happened and in my current condition it ain't gonna. Most friends and family have either moved away or passed away. Limited family is way up in San Jose. Still, I enjoy holidays with my dogs and prefer to stay home. They're good company.

An extra Turkey from last year that had to be kept at my dad's and even survived a brief power outage there...
This is all I could reasonably cut off and to have sustained being safe to eat, before the pot being left with an ocean of juice, scrappy remains and a bunch of bones... Just right for me to bring to dad for him to give to his cats... Somehow at where I worked I was able to get a nice sized bag if potatoes (there were plenty left, despitecsomehow selling mist everything, the rest of the year before Thanksgiving is devoted to producing, just for a lot to have been wiped out!) right on Thanksgiving to mash, though only made a few just for the small portion of turkey we actually ate, and sadly not very creamy, and hastily done as in most portions not especially mashed... Oh, and this morning, crescent rolls that are just right with just orange juice... (Both another surprise-last minute-find) -- Dave |
