psiiiiiiiit quiet!

I've even gone to the store that has it and I'm patiently waiting until they realize nobody will be stupid to buy them for that absurd price and accept my generous offer (which is much less than the asked price)

Hell, I didn't pay $499 for *my* pair when I bought them less than a year old from Sears Outlet Store in 1991! Washer came 18 months before the dryer. After one looong night of needing to schlep one weeks' loads of wet laundry plus the yuge pile from my roommate returning from vacation from the washer to the coin-op laundromat up the street IN THE RAIN, I tripped over myself running out to get the dryer days later. The indoor dryer vent kit I bought to go with worked a treat, and allowed us to keep the dryer in one corner of the living/dining room neatly disguised with a tablecloth when not in use.

Their portability meant that they easily made the rounds among several of my loved ones: my brother used them in his college-housing apartment, my best friend had them briefly until he was married, and they finally ended up with a disabled girlfriend for use in her government housing unit. I predict that they are still running full-tilt for whomever has them now.

Any word from the Thomas?

The ad is still up and the price hasn't changed.

I don't know.

Sure they seem expensive to those of us that remember when they could be had for only a few hundred.

But have you seen some of the asking prices for the portables?

Just the dryer is more than they are asking for this set.  And it's the same dryer underneath.  The new matching washer would certainly be different.

I wish I lived ..... no I don't.   I wish the units were closer to me.

They're still there....

And they're still advertising it for exactly the same price..

Maybe in 2 or 3 months I'll visit them again and say "Hey, over one year and nobody bought it. What about $50 to get rid of this pair that is taking space in your store?"

These are being sold by an appliance dealer, they know what they want for them, they are not going to let them go for $50.

We often have RB appliances around that take more than a year to find someone that needs them.

I admire your persistence Thomas.

It it kind of odd that they haven't sold yet.

I don't think they'd sell for $50, but.... we'll see.

Have the belt driven version of this set. Still have to figure out why the clutch keeps on slipping and it will require a complete disassembly and there is a small metal ball or something I forgot to install and it’s causing all of the issues I am having with the clutch slipping and not getting up to full speed. Will be another project for me.

The small metal bee-bee like ball goes in the side of the tube.
Yes, you will need to disassemble the workings to get it installed.
