This RR has my attention, and it's right in my 'hood.

How does the RR-8 stack up against earlier and later models?  I like the timer knob over a touchpad.

If/when my OTR GE microwave gets 86'd, I would like to have this ready to be incorporated into the kitchen.

The RR-8/8A's are about as sophisticated as you can get for an analog unit. The Cookmatic slider can be adjusted on the fly and the temp control allows for probe cook & hold. Amana had also learned a few lessons from the RR-7 so these tend to be pretty robust. Definitely worth $50.
