That dishwasher is worth more than $1000.

Two things will happen, either someone will nab it at the BIN price, or some low ball bidder, hoping no one else wants the item will start bidding low and cancel the BIN, and usually that means the final price will be streets ahead of the BIN.

Nice unit though!

L.

I'm crying, That is the machine I bought and the motor burned out. I would have had it repaired if this site existed when it happened.

The sold it!

I just looked (6:10 CDT) and it sold for the BIN of $995 about 2:30 Pacific time. Beautiful machine, like all the the real Kitchen Aids. It will disappear from E-bay pretty soon, so I grabbed some pictures I'll post here for anyone who missed it.

Bob, how full could you load this baby up?

Wide-open

It may even still smell new

The dashboard

I always loved the control layout on Superbas. This one came with the trim kit, but no panels.

Wow!
Well, he got good bucks for it.
I would love to know the story behind this dishwasher, and why it was still in the box. Oh my....could there be a warehouse of these still in the box somewhere?
Does anyone know the buyer?
I love my KDS-18, and hope to find a few more. Great machine.
The most amazing thing to me is that it is a timer controlled machine, and every button for cycles are totally different.
Congrats to the new owner!
Brent

An auction like that should be put about on the "down low", as they say.

The buyer may be a member, or at least may help out in a rush, peep another purchase:

Kitch-N-Sinkerator?

Another beauty! Looks like the equivalent of a KA Imperial, later '80's maybe, in fact it may be post Hobart, judging by the interior.

Bob: We're still looking for a KA for you up here in Dallas. Haven't had any others like mine crawl out to the curb just yet.

Wow Greg!
What a beauty! Where did you find that?
That is a Kitchenaid Imperial. Great dishwasher!
Why don't you have this in your beautiful kitchen?
Thanks for the pictures!
Brent

That is a ghost orb floating in front of your dishwasher!

Could your house be haunted?

(well... I saw it once on Ghost Hunters!)

Patrick ;)

haunted-yes

Certain doors/closet doors ajar that were shut tight, then left open a bit, funky noises, my house is very small, and I am sure its "nothing", but I have noticed some bizarre coincidences. If there is a ghost, its friendly :). I don't really believe in that stuff though but I don't rule it out 100% either. That is strange about the spot on the DW in the photo ............

answer to retro

1987, its a Whirlpool made machine whereas Whirlpool took over or bought out the "hobart" line of residential DW's in '86. It still has a 1/2hp motor and is basically exactly the same as my '84 Hobart made KA.

Thanks Greg....

It's a beautiful thing. I love how completely new it is 1987-now, never used and with the energyguide tag still inside. *drool* :o)

not exactly outstretched arms

Why on Earth did KitchenAid introduce its multi-level load-as-you like wash system on the KD-18 with such a short middle wash arm that doesn't even go near the corners of the upper rack, the jets don't even angle out towards those corners?

Post# 156362 , Reply# 29   9/22/2006 at 15:09 (6,418 days old) by gregm ()
upper spray arm is

My upper spray arm on each end squirts diagonally up and outwards towards the corners, I have never had a problem with corner placed glasses not coming clean.

the corner market

But gregm, don't you have a 1984 machine? In 1979,when the KD-19 series came out,the wider arm with angled end jets debuted, thus yours would do the corners.

yup

my SS KA is an '84
