All these years I've had Frigidaire washers and I just made a new discovery this evening. Here is my '67 Rapidry washing sheets in Tide and I have always used my machines with the cap on the agitator. The cap on this machine has always been loose and I kept it in place with a rubber band inside of it to snug things up. Recently the rubber band broke and I had not replaced it yet. I discovered today using it the first time without the cap on that it turns things over better because I don't have the bleach cup and cap in place to keep air from moving out the top of the agitator as it pumps. Here's a shot of the vigorous and splashy action!

Nice lighted control panel.
When I was growing up, a lower in the rung washer like this is what we had. I remember one time standing on a chair, as a four year old, next to the machines and my mother was loading it, it was filling, and I was watching. The cap wasn't on the center post because she would put soap in there. The machine filled to the level and started agitating with the lid open and water would jump out of that activator.

always liked this Jet Cone agitator.....
wonder if you could leave that cap off and find the open ring they used on the laundromat machines....I remember how it would pump water up onto the window while it washed... or create one from something like an extra wide flat vacuum belt, slide over the top and then fold it inside.... |
