Ralph, that's either a '64 or '65 model, and some of them did have swing-out shelves. While Pink and Woodtone Brown were last offered in '65, Turquoise was available in '66, along with new Avocado. |

Looking back, 1964 was the last year that the magnets on the door were a pair of discs. 1965 and 1966 both used a rectangular magnetic plate on the door. There was a 1964 bottom-mount with 1 fixed and 2 sliding shelves, with 2 crisper drawers. And the 1964 handle matches this one.
BTW, the 1964 appliance catalog is available in pdf form in the library.

Does it sound right that the frig would be cooling and the freezer would not?
I'm not an expert in refrigerators but I have fixed some. Typically, I've found that if one section doesn't cool, then no sections cool but that's with newer models that have a fan to distribute the air. This however, looks like there are two distinct sections and there is no air movement between the top and bottom.
It's about 2 hours away. I was thinking of going to look at it. |

Is there new replacement gaskets available that would have magnets in the stripping?
Without the magnets, theres limited reason for the stripping to seal.
Remember, in the 70s when they would do those "energy saving" commercials and they'd talk about appliances wasting electricity? They would literally take a dollar bill and slide it in the closed door to illustrate how air would leak out.
