I had the front panel off of my KDS-58C tonight while running a load of Christmas cooking pots and pans so I could check on the rinse agent dispenser, as I noticed the last few times I had run the dishwasher, I wasn't hearing the usual solenoid snap at the start of the final fill (more on that later). I noticed though that the bottom screw of the detergent dispenser was rusty and water was leaking a bit around it, so I tried to tighten the screw a little, but when I did so, the head broke off. So I would like to take the detergent dispenser out, drill out the old screw, and then remount the dispenser back in the dishwasher upside down to protect the bi-metals from future leakage. Just wondering if somebody could tell me if a part number for just the gasket exists? Or has anybody used an equivalent sized gasket (eg: automotive) that would work instead?

Now back to the rinse agent dispenser story. I kept running the dishwasher as the leak stopped itself once the seal warmed up a bit, but at the start of the last rinse, there was no solenoid snap. I unplugged the wires off of the dispenser; everything looked clean, and my multimeter showed me that the timer was sending it power. Reconnected the leads back on and restarted... still no snap. While the door was still closed and the dishwasher running, I tapped the solenoid with the back of my screwdriver, and after a few taps, I heard it snap. Opening the door and restarting the cycle a few times, and the solenoid was snapping again. Hopefully it was just sticking a bit.

You can seal the dispenser into the opening with 3M marine sealant, you don't even need a gasket at all.

Thanks John. I assumed so but just wanted to get the expert confirmation.
