So this past weekend a lovey KDS-18 got installed in my 1978 kitchen.  Very nice machine, I must add!  Now am in search of a 1978ish refrigerator in almond since my retro stove is the same color...

The black glass/chrome control panel has always been my favorite combo with these in the looks department.

The big question....how does it wash?

Congratulations Todd!!

I still have mine that I bought in 1977. Over the years, she has been a convertible portable, a built in and is back to her original configuration. She has a built in sister in the kitchen. Both have been modified to have the upper rack and wider wash upper arm that was a feature of the 19 series.

I had a GE Americana range similar to yours in my last house.

Enjoy!

Hey Todd, is there no almond panel behind the black one on the dishwasher?

The dishwasher is amazing!  Spotless dishes, and it sounds like a dishwasher should!

Sadly, no optional color panels behind the black one — but the black matches the Hotpoint stove and my wine fridge.  So now the hunt for a late 70s refrigerator begins.  I really wanted Avocado Green or Harvest Gold but when I found the brand new Almond stove, I had to follow the color theme/scheme!

That's great Todd.

I was wondering about the almond panel as well, but if you find a harvest gold or avocado frig..... you might chose to have appliances in each color.  Some variety?  Besides, making dishwasher panel with some sheet metal, spray primer, and spray paint is easy.  What ever color you need.

I had a KDS-17 which looked the  same but didn't have the end button for the energy-saver dry AND more importantly the second level wash arm which yours has so you got the best IMO.

Be patient, you'll find the perfect refrigerator.

Here's wishing you a new year filled with abundant retro appliance treasures.
