I was wondering what those numbers stand for. My A407 is a mid range model but I just got an HA806 TOL set. The 4 I guess designates mid range but what does the 7 stand for? Or the 6 etc? Just wondering where they got these numbers from spec wise.

6 and 7 are the series I believe. 06 would be 106,206 406 606 806,906, etc.

There was a thread that, IIRC, either explained it or provided a chart that did.

I'm also unclear about what the difference is between a 606 and a 608, for example or a 206 and 207.  It's just not urgent enough for me to go digging.

I was told by my Maytag dealer when I bought mine that number change means any changes to that particular model from the series. He said your Maytag 511 looks just like the 510 in your brochure but the 511 has a bleach dispenser now.

That might have been my thread - I've been attempting to collect & collate official Maytag-published comparison charts for all of the 90/91/x06/x07/x08 center-dial machines.

"Expanded Maytag Comparison Chart?"

As I mention in that thread though, "one of these things is not like the other", and it's the A506 that 'breaks the mold'... Despite the name, it's NOT a center-dial machine like the rest of the Ax06 models.

I was under the understanding the H in front was indicator its Harvest Gold color?

Is it?

That much I do know.  H = Harvest Gold.  We had an HA206 for many years.

Thanks guys. After looking at those charts I see my washer also has a tub light, must be burned out so I'll have to pull the cover off and see what model bulb it is and order one. Dryer tub light and panel light out as well so need to look into those although its not near a 220v outlet now.

One small problem with those charts is that they only capture the current state of the specifications at the time of publication...
So for example, in this case, there's a chance your HA806 doesn't have a tub light, as they were eliminated later on in the production run... You would have to check your machine to be sure.

Thats some great info! Im fortunate that both my 806 has the white dial, blue trim on the console, front panel trim. older bleach dispenser although Im not sure if this is more reliable or not, plus the mallory " scritch " timer which I prefer. My 407 uses that timer and has that dial and panel as well. I was going to look for a stainless lint filter but seeing as it was phased out 2 years prior I will leave this original. I'll have to pull the front panel and see if it has a tub light. Maybe clean the top of the tub while Im in there as well as the area the prime mover and trans are in.
