Decisions, decisions.....foot-in-mouth

This handsome early WCI Westinghouse set appeared on the trade in pile at the local Menards. They are calling me, and I don't know why!

Washer and gas dryer. Washer , except for the console, is in above average condition for it's age. Console has a few issues. Some chips in the top, and some rust on the lid. It's nicely equipped, with porcelain tub, and Weigh to Save. The dryer is also above average shape for it's age. Also a porcelain looking tub.

Do I rescue these waif's, and give them a new forever home? Or do I leave them to their fate, possibly a 2021 KIA? They are unusual enough and you don't see them every day any more. Why should I get them? Why should I leave them?

What say ye?

I was just saying to a friend that one of the few washers I haven't played with is a Westinghouse/WCI toploader. If this was behind my local Menards I'd throw it in the truck. Go for it, Kenny!

A Gibson branded version of this same washer showed up not too far away from me a few weeks ago. Assuming it's in the process of turning into a Kia at the moment. :)

It's not as easy as backing up, and loading, that would be a no brainer!

These are inside the yard, with a price on them. The washer has a price of $49.00, and the dryer is $29.00. If I considered this set, I would offer much less, probably no more than $50.00 for the set. And I get a 2 week guarantee that I can bring them back, if they aren't working to my satisfaction!

We had the Gibson equivalent of the washer when we moved in here 30+ years ago. That dang thing sounded like it was coming up the stairs, when it went into spin.

$49.00 / $29.00

WHAAAT??? Wow, my local Menards wouldn't price each higher than say 19.99 a piece. Higher prices are often times reserved for refrigerators or much newer looking washers/dryers.

If this had been a TOL Westy with the lighted panel, it'd be a different story.

Oh yeah, there are different "bins", with prices from $19.99, to $69.95. I haven't dealt with this Menards on trade ins before, but the other stores I've dealt with have been pretty reasonable about working something out. No, no lighted consoles, that might be a game changer.

I wonder when the next 11% off sale is.....

Kenny, the 11% off sale at Menard's is going on this week. I just went there last night.

I think you need a couple more machines to accompany some old friends currently residing in your barn. Go for it.
