There are so many nowadays.
Original version was nothing more than anionic surfactants mainly. Which was fine in terms of oil/grease/soil removal, but could leave things feeling rather harsh after drying. Also silks didn't have their original luster. Perwoll is a blend of non-ionic, ionic, cationic surfactants plus balsam which cleans very well (but gently) and leaves woolens and silks soft and smooth. Did several sweaters last week using Perwoll (am trying to use up bottles in my stash before they go off), and was that well pleased. |

I use Perwoll Renew 3D for blacks and it’s fantastic. I’m a musician who wears a lot of black clothes and the Perwoll product keeps items blacker longer than Woolite for Darks. On the downside, Perwoll Renew 3D is stupidly expensive (currently $33 a bottle for 20 loads on Amazon), but I use only 1/4 to 1/3 of the recommended dose, which still produces plenty of suds, so I get many more loads per bottle.
My black clothes have to endure many washings. If your use of blacks is more casual or infrequent, the Woolite For Darks, which is relatively inexpensive and readily available at WalMart, Target, and many grocery stores will probably be fine.
